Mike Bell
HI. I have been using a single cell lipo for the ignition of my Zenoah 20cc but just had the second one expire on me. I can only assume I left it on or something. Anyway, these things are pretty expensive and I was wondering if anyone out there was using a standard 4 cell Nimh instead? If so have you encountered any problems? Thanks, Mike
Denis Watkins
Yes Mike, 4.8 volt regular 4 cell nihms, no problems
Rich too
I fly infrequently and now use 2 LiFe batteries (cheap from HK) as they can be left for months, plugged into receiver, and power from there (via IBEC) to motor..
Mike Bell
Thanks for the reassurance guys. I could use a 2 cell lipo through a regulator I suppose but the 4 cell Nimh would be easier to package into the space.
Don Fry
I use a one cell LIPO from Hobby King, sold without plugs, and solder an old servo lead to connect/charge. Cheap. Suppose you could solder 2 leads, one to connect, one to charge, but I have not got round to such sophistication.
stu knowles
I too use a single cell Lipo from HK, I think that the one currently in use id a 5000 m/amp/hr. I think that perhaps a better solution is to ditch the original ignition unit and use an RC exel unit
Mike Bell
Thanks for the HK tip off Donald and Stu. I have one ordered.
Mike Bell
Got my HK 1s lipo today but the darn thing won't take a charge. Plan B was to disassemble a 4 cell pack which had one dodgy cell in it. This works OK and I wish I'd thought of it sooner.
