Denis Watkins
Weigh it John, and publish this, together with the wingspan onto this site. The boys can then recommend your gear
PatMc
Hi John, which particular plan is it, what's the wing span & what dia prop is shown ?
John Cooper 1
Hi. Well I have been slightly caught out! The plan is in the post! It is a Fokker E111 span 1120mm, & weighs 560grms & no prop size is given in the spec but I want to make sure I can get the correct motor before cutting Balsa. I have another Eindekker 1/8th scale plan by David Boddington 48ins span for .15-.19cu.in with 10x3.5 prop taken off the web but can't get it enlarged to full size & would also need it "electrifying". This is why I have purchased the already electrified plan but then found the specified motor was obsolete.
PatMc
Hi John, if you use 3s lipo this 1100kv motor with a 9x5 - 9x6 prop or this 950 KV motor with a 10x5 -10x6 should give more power than a brushed 400, I'd suggest a 15 - 25A esc. Both motors are about the same weight as a brushed can 400 which will help with the cg.
Geoff S
If you really want a geared 400 motor I have a totally unused one somewhere you're welcome to for the cost of postage ... I think I can find it Geoff
Denis Watkins
Hi John The 1/8th scale calculates out as needing a 400 watt set up.
PatMc
It ain't a Spitfire, Denis, about 150 - 200W should be more than adequate.
Denis Watkins
Oh Pat, I just converted the suggested IC, which was 0.5hp, so close to 400 Watts, and then the draggy nature of the model to already being in the 0.15 - 0.19 cu in range.
