Yes Eddy, the cable is Key, it uses just the sticks on the 6 E, but this must be fully charged, fully working and switched off.

The 8J fly's the model, bound at 2.4 gig, and switched to trainer just uses the slave sticks.

The final test will be that the 6 should come on when the cable is plugged between them

Do not do that Eddie, it will cook the lower votage tx The 6ex works on 9.6 v and the 8j is 4.8 to 6.6v on a life batt. Futaba produce a trainer cable with an in buit voltage reducer P-TC-SQ7-2 £28.00. So with the 8j as master there will not be enough voltage to power the 6ex. and if you try use the 6ex as master you will cook the 8j.

Have just bought another 6 exa from fleabay. I think this is the cheapest alternative and quickest root for the youngster who may well decide its not for Him. Hope it is though. Any excuse to buy new gear and get out more often. Too many youngsters playing internet games and gaining no worthwhile skills. Thanks guys.
