MattyB
Here you go... Although I personally wouldn't do it myself, I can't see anything fundamentally unsafe in the roll that Robbie did shortly after takeoff. Yes I suppose he could have had a structural failure or discovered a snafu (reversed ailerons etc.) at that point, but if an issue had occured that brought the model down it would have been well away from spectators. I would have done a few nerve steadying passes first, but at some point with a model like this you have to start putting it through manoeuvres - there's no real reason that can't be on the first flight if you are happy with the trim. john stones 1 - Moderator
Cheers Matty Can't see much to get worked up about myself, some mild aero's n a roll after take off. Love the colour scheme Robbie John
MattyB
On a different topic I was quite surprised how much this model got thrown about in the wind considering it's large size. I guess it is probably quite lightly loaded and obviously it's very draggy with a lot of front and side area. Certainly looked a bit of a handful on landing, especially the second flight. Robbie Skipton - Skip Model Designs
It weighs only 109lbs with fuel( which is approx 25 to 30lbs lighter than the blackone). And it is a massive wing and fuaelage. The second flight was cut short for 2 reasons. The wind really picked up (25mph) which i deemed unsafe to fly and then the bloody spinner came loose.. hence the rattle.
MattyB
Maybe you need to ballast it for high winds like a sloper... PS - When converting 109lbs to kg (yup, I'm a child of the metric age) Google helpfully informed me that this model r model weighs exactly the same as one of the worlds most untalented celebrities...!
