Peter Miller
Hi Paul I checked the battery location. It is attached to the fuselage side under the plate where the wing bolt nut is. As I think I have said, Little Miss Honky Tonk flies like a fully aerobatic Super 60.Did I say that her party piece is square loops with a half roll on each leg? She is slow enough to do that without having to rush things Peggy Sue 2 is a model that I only fly straight and level when it is inverted. The orginal smaller one was exactly the same.Just string loops, rolls spins, stall turns and everything else in one after the other. Piers Bowlan
Peter, any news of when Little Miss Honky Tonk may get published in RCM&E?
Paul C.
Thanks Peter, I will get on with that job later this morning should have plenty of time today as the forecast is not good and my wife has no intention of leaving the house in these conditions. Let you know how I get on. Paul.
Peter Miller
Posted by Piers Bowlan on 15/12/2018 08:56:29: Peter, any news of when Little Miss Honky Tonk may get published in RCM&E? I am told that probably it will be in the issue that comes out in January or possibly the following month.
Piers Bowlan
Good. Better clear the decks then.
Paul C.
Had to put the battery just behind the tank for now as I had sealed the front of the tank with silicon, still a bit tail heavy so added a little lead inside the cowl for now. Will take the tank out later and pop the battery below , that should get the C of G bang on. Also forgot to drill hole in the cowl to adjust the slow running, it's a new engine so will need some running in and a little adjustments. Weather was looking good this morning so heading of to the field. Paul.
Paul C.
Run one tank full to get the engine limbered up , sun was shining little wind so she was ready to go. As expected she was in the air within a few yards and only needed two clicks of elevator, I had the engine running rich for the first flight be still had loads of power available. Loops, rolls, stall turns, inverted flight , slow speed handling excellent, with reduced throws and reduced power she flyes like a low wing trainer, up the throws and power and she is transformed into a lively aerobatic. Need to run the engine more and get the slow running sorted, and need to get some trim on the wings, white tends to disappear against the sky. Another favourite model, well done Peter Paul. Peter Miller
THanks Paul. Glad that you are happy. I like dark colours underneath with a big white spot or square so I really know which way up they are.
Paul C.
Definitely time for a rummage through the film bag for suitable colours , I tend to keep the model much closer these days . This should be a popular model when it comes out in the mag, looks good and performs exceptionally well. Paul.
Peter Miller
I know what you mean. However I might be able to fly a bit further away now. Not too far but a bit
Peter Miller
ISorry Didn't think I had hit the button twice Edited By Peter Miller on 16/12/2018 18:40:
Paul C.
Managed to get the trim added so should be more visible now, changed the wing joining bolt for a Allen cap head bolt I can now use a Allen key to tighten much easier than using a screw driver. Hope for some decent flying weather over the hols now.
Rob Ashley
Nice looking finish Paul. Well done you. Hope you get the weather.
Paul C.
Thanks Rob , I like the style of this model and it is a dream to fly . Will be sneaking off down the field at the first opportunity Paul.
David Thomas 1
Can it be flown on electric power? If so what size battery and motor etc?
Peter Miller
I have started using the allen bolts on my latest and have bought a couple of long allen keys. I am quite sure that Little Miss Honky Tonk would be great with electric. Don't ask me what motor etc. Wing loading is very light I can't remember the actual figure as that is on my old laptop but it will be under 20 oz per sq. ft
Paul C.
Hi David, take a look at the Ballerina build blogs there are a number of them that have been built for electric. Pretty sure a number of builders have quoted the motor and lipo set up that they used. Paul.
Peter Miller
THis one is a little bigger than Ballerina. Not a lot but the Ballerina uses a .40 FS, LMHT uses a .52 FS
Paul C.
Good point Peter I had forgotten about the size difference, 4 max should be able to recommend the necessary set up for the folks who want to go electric. Paul.

Peter Miller
Right. I have got the important figures for calculatng electric power. Actually better than I thought. Span is 59" Area is 650 Sq In, Weight is 71 ounces. THis gives a wing loading of a mere 15.73 ounces per sq. ft. That is down in glider territory!! No wonder it is so agile. Piers Bowlan
For anyone building from the pull out plan, I thought that I would just mention that the 1/16in vertical sheer webs on the main spar are not shown on the plan or the illustration on page 63 in the RCM&E July mag. Of course it is mentioned in Peter's comprehensive build instructions and visible in the photos in this thread. Looking forward to building one of these (for electric), just need to finish another project first.
Nigel R
Very lightly loaded! Must go vertical for ever on a 52. I think my dad will be doing one of these, probably using a 3548 or 3542 size motor on 4S 4000.
Peter Miller
Guilty. I just checked the original drawing and for some reason I missed out the webs. If someone doesn't use them because they are not there the wing should be quite strong enough. The webs really stop ot warping as much as anything. I can tell you that Dancing Queen had a Gee meter fitted and I did a long, vertical dive and applied full up suddenly. The g meter registered 24.8 G without any damage. I very much doubt if Little Miss Honky Tonk could ever get anything like that G reading. Even my Super Marauder only pulled 6 G and that was thrown around a lot. However it is a good idea to add the webs as per the instructions as it does make the wing siffer and anti warp.
