It would be a lot cheaper to use water based varnish than clear dope & normal model covering films vary a lot in price. My main priority was that I wanted to achieve a vintage appearance for the Amigo & I intend repeating the method on a couple of other vintage models yet to be built. The basic method I used is explained in this thread when I tried it out on a spare tailplane last year. Have you tried any of the film from HK ? I've tried some on a couple of models, IMO it's superior to Solarfilm as well as being much cheaper even after postage is considered. Tom Thomas Posted September 23, 2017 Share Posted September 23, 2017 I've not tried the HK film pat, I've tried the stuff from Ali Express a few years back, gives a great shiny finish but I found it tended to shrink badly on corners etc as it wanted to shrink as one whole piece rather than small bits on curves. ill check the link you've provided, thanks.
