I took a couple of weights with me and it seemed a bit better but I think it still needs more although I did balance it and reflexed it as advised. PatMc Posted October 22, 2017 Share Posted October 22, 2017 It just looks like there's too much up elevator - i.e. reflex - or it's tail heavy. If the cg at the recommended position I'd reduce the reflex in increments & try over & over until it flies. It's a bouncy model so it'll take a lot of abuse. I have the first generation Wildthing, it has a fair margin between flying at slow speed close to stall then increasing the down elevator to much faster speed but maintaining height to pretty much the same degree at both extremes. PS The first & third were bad launches. Always launch with the nose pointing slightly down so that the model gains speed before trying to gain height. Harry Twist Posted October 22, 2017 Share Posted October 22, 2017 Hi I would agree with all the above ref cog and reducing the reflex and the need for careful launching (nose horizontal or even better, slightly down) - I know with my Wildthing - one click of up or down makes a difference, there is definitely a sweet spot! Also, respectfully - not sure if you were just test gliding or trying to slope soar - to get the model to soar continually, I would suggest a much steeper slope is needed - in the footage there seems to be lots of horizontal breeze but not much upgoing air to provide you with the lift you need to sustain flight. Maybe try a different site? (just trying to be helpful). They are tough models that will take a knock or two and are great fun to fly once sorted out! Hope you enjoy it. Tom Thomas Posted October 23, 2017 Author Share Posted October 23, 2017 Thankyou all so much for your advice it's much appreciated Funnily enough I literally just said to my wife that maybe the slope isn't steep enough, it gets a lot steeper as it goes along but it is a yomp bit I will try further along next time. I'll also add a bit more nose weight and play with the reflex, it's frustrating I don't still have my dx6i as clicking trim is much better than using the sliders on this Saturn transmitter.
