frsky 2.jpgGot a Futaba T9CP Tx with a FrSky V8FT 2.4 module and trying to bind to a FrSky V8FR Rx. So far tried

Switch on TX whilst holding down bind button on model, wait for the beep and release button. red light flashes (fast)

Hold down bind button on RX, switch on - red and green light flash (fast)

NO BIND

What am I doing wrong please? frsky 1.jpg

If you are working single handed Ron, then get some help

Holding down the bind button on the Rx while powering up is your hands full.

Now you need the Tx bind button held down while you switch on the Tx, which is impossible with just 2 hands.

If you already have help, then put some distance between you and your accomplice, with the Rx powered 1st

Sorry Denis but that's not the correct sequence to bind Frsky V8. The Tx is on first then the Rx which makes single handed binding quite easy.

Ron, here's the sequence copied from the instruction manual :

Receiver and Transmitter Setup Instructions
Follow the steps below to properly set up your system.
a) Turn your FUTABA OR JR transmitter on and switch it to PPM mode, power off the TX.
b) Turn the transmitter on while holding the programming button. Release it a few seconds later. The RED LED on the transmitter module will flash indicating the transmitter is ready to bind the receivers.
c) Connect the battery to the receiver while holding the receiver’s button. The LED on the receiver will flash indicating the binding process is complete. Turn off the receiver.
d) Turn off the transmitter finish the binding procedure.
e) Turn on the transmitter. Connect the battery to the receiver when ORANGE/RED LED on TX is on. The LED on the receiver will indicate the receiver is receiving commands from the transmitter. In a few seconds system is ready to work (communication is established).

Note the Tx must be switched to PPM mode.
Also there's no mention of a "beep", if you're hearing one I suggest that it must be from the Futaba Tx not the Frsky module.

In case you don't have the instructions here's a link that will take you to a download of the original version manual either as a pdf or to open in your browser.

Alternately this link to a later version will download a pdf.

Wow, Many thanks to PatMC for the advice. It worked with both V8FT modules and the one V8FR receiver. It does not, however, appear to work with a FrSKY TFR8S receiver, although not really concerned as I know have a working set up. Is there a different method for the TFR8S.

great forum, great people. Thank you

AFAIK the TFR8S will only work with Futaba FASST protocol Tx's, so definitely won't work with a V8FT module which uses ACCST.

BTW be careful when using range check mode with the V8 module as there's no audible warning when it's on. It's best to switch both Tx & Rx off after a range check then switch on as normal before flying. I know of instances where people have only switched the Rx off & on again after a check with expensive results.
