The 2 remaining shops I can get to do not stock much if any wood. I am after the 1mm size, how do you guys buy ply in longer lenghs? when I do see "thin" ply in b+q etc its never the quality I used to buy. Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Yeap, I use SLEC for ply as well. They offer a range of types and sizes. BEB
Dave Hess
The Balsa Cabin have a good range of birch and lie ply. i know they used to cut down big sheets - probably 8ft x 4ft, so maybe they can supply bigger sheets than 12" x 36"if you ask them nicely. **LINK**
The Wright Stuff
I use Inwoods - it's local to me so saves postage. They will cut a bigger sheet to size for you, no problem, or if it's not in the shop, they will order it for you - arriving in 2-3 days. John Lee
I usually stock up at one of the shows but I noticed a small selection of both ply & balsa in my local HobbyCraft store (one of the National Chain) this morning. No 1mm though on this occasion, but it could be worth checking if you have a local store & you get stuck for supplies in the the middle of a project. Nigel R
Pricey business, wood at Hobbycraft - £5 for a sheet of 1/4" balsa, £5.8 for a 12" square of 0.6mm ply. I was definitely stuck though.

SR 71
I buy all mine at Slec, and take it home to Cyprus on the plane with me, 1200 x 600 sheets, together with the balsa i but at the same time its always free postage to me in the uk, i buy an extra bag on the flight, 15kg for £18, far better than paying extortionate carriers the £150 / 200 they normally quote now days
