bert baker
Hi I have a damaged Flair Fokker DR1 coming my way. The bigger one of the Flair Triplanes Just wondering if I can get a head start and cut some wood strips from sheet, So dose anyone know the Tail plane and elevator wood sizes Bert
bert baker
A pic of the plan section would be handy for reference
Don Fry
It's a flat plate, made from 3/8 inch of various widths. Medium to soft, and medium needed, but medium only would do. No longer have the plan, gave it away to a lost soul without one. Don Fry
By the way, David Mellor has a thread running on a Majestic Magor. His idea of laminating sheets to make stiff light stripwood, would serve you well.

bert baker
Duno why, but the Fuz sides have been play sheeted, Thought had crossed my mind it may not be a Flair kit,, Having searched the Internet come to conclusion it must be a Flair Fokker
Robert Welford
Bert, as you probably know Balsa USA kit a 1/4 scale DR1.
stu knowles
If it's not too late, double up on the hinge spar especially the centre half of the length. The elevators can be prone to flutter but even with general handling and wear the hinge spar will fracture just outboard of the fus sides. I would also incorporate a rigid brace on the underside and possibly a wire trace brace over the top
bert baker
no not to late, I have put a bit of extra balsa bits in that area, perhaps I need to do a bit more,a bit further up at the square cross brace
