Best glue for wing skin mounted servos

Recommended Posts

I am rebuilding an X-Models Whisper after a prang. The servos were simply glued, after covering with heat shrink, onto a carbon fibre square stuck to the inside surface of the wing, which is balsa with an outer skin of glass fibre. It appears the glue used was clear silicone. Cutting through the heat shrink released the servo, allowing its stripped gear to be fixed. I had to scrape away a layer of silicone. I now need to glue back the servo. I have heat shrink covered it. Can anyone advise the best glue to use? If it is silicone is it just the common builder's type or is there something stronger?

It was probably hot melt glue, common in PNF models. They haven't got time to set glues. Others will say, there are lighter ways to secure a servo if you have time. But your shout, your model.
