Mark Kettle 1
Video Camcorder Hood
Mark Kettle 1
The screens on video camcorders are so difficult to see in bright sunlight and could benefit from a sunshade. There are a variety of commercial products available as you can see in this link. **LINK** It is simple to build a DIY sun shade in a few minutes at little or no cost, just time. I have made one a few years ago, but its gone all floppy. Remember Dragon Cam ? Used to good effect in this video, you can follow the small 35" to 40" models with easy however far away they are. Mark Kettle 1
The new hood was made from a 12" long cardboard box, with some extra cardboard bits to fashion the hood around my head to keep the light out. Also the pointed nose was attached on the end. To get the canopy shape on top was extra cardboard.
Mark Kettle 1
These a slot in the left side for the camcorder screen to fit into. You can work the main controls, wide angle may be a problem with the nose at the side though.
Mark Kettle 1
Because how the shape came out I had the do some foils to decorate the sides. Above with chin - 'chine' - I even shaded the lower part and drew on a curved passenger / crew door.
Mark Kettle 1
I get a great view of the screen, almost dark cinema like when my head closes in to the end of the hood. Edited By Mark Kettle 1 on 01/08/2019 21:07:
