A couple of years ago, I parked my pride and joy Chipmunk 40 feet up an oak tree! As in your case, the engine and fuel tank found its way back to earth. Being of an age where tree-climbing is a non starter I thought back to my youth and made a man-sized catapult. A substantial wheel nut was attached to some strong nylon string and and after 3 attempts, down came my Chipmunk. Happy Landings, Roy.
