David Hayward.
Can anyone advise on a good source for PETG sheet .020" (0.5mm) thickness as I am going to attempt vacuum forming a canopy for my Chorus Gull. I have built a scaled up version (6ft span) from the Brian Peckham plan and so the 'standard' size canopy is too small.

Ebay is your best bet here, there is plenty on there in various sizes, thicknesses and cheap. I usually just stick to the UK sellers and there are plenty of those. I normally buy from there if I can't get to a hobby shop. I make quite a lot of windscreens for Scale RC helis. I can confirm it does work very well with a Vac Former too as I have one and have tried it. I find 0.5 to 0.75 mm best to work with on the Vac Former. 1mm can be done but best only for very simple shape screens. Mark

David Hayward.
Posted by DDH on 23/10/2019 07:45:15: LMGTFY Well that could be the response to virtually every post with a question. Fortunately there are more helpful people here who appreciate you have probably already done that, but that someone else may have managed to 'dig up' something you did not find. The canopy itself will be about 300mm x 300mm then I need to allow for overlap and fitting into the frame, so I need fairly large sheets. I have been struggling to find the size I need and prices were higher than I expected. I have looked on ebay and while there seems to be plenty on there, not found anything suitable yet. Steve Houghton
Sarik themselves are now selling it, although the size 330 x 457 might be tight for your needs: Sarik PETG
kevin b
See if you can find a local (small) vac forming company. If you explain what you are doing, they will probably sell you a small sheet. That's what I did.
