Skippers Walker
I'd be interested to get some experienced views on the use and effectiveness of the following materials Oracover vs Macgreggor film vs the Hobby King film. I've used Oracover/tex very successfully but it does seem rather pricey against the other products. Is it a case of "you get what you pay for"? Comments please SW
philip pember
probably SW but have just covered a RED ZEPHYR and SUPER 60 in Hobby king film and was perfecly acceptable £10.50 for 5 mtrs so cant complain about price, only used solarfilm before so no comparison with Oracover. Nigel R
Hobbyking film is perfectly good. Different plastic to solar film. Slightly tougher but less pliant, however it Shrinks a bit more. In practice I find there is nothing in it. The drawback is it is Never in stock at hobbyking. Rapidrc amongst others sell the same stuff at slightly higher cost. I have also bought it from ebay at around £12 for 2.5m Inc post, which seems ok.
kevin b
Good luck to anybody trying to get HK covering film without having to pay a fortune for shipping charges. The EU and UK warehouses had had practically zero stock for the last 12 months.
Wilco Wingco
The last time I bought film from HK the cost of postage and import tax was £10 MORE than the cost of the 2 rolls of film.
FlyinBrian
Hobby King film is very very good for the price, if price is no object I would go for Oracover / Profilm Not yet tried the McGregor film Edited By FlyinBrian on 02/12/2020 23:16:
Murat Kece 1
Posted by Wilco Wingco on 02/12/2020 22:03:28: The last time I bought film from HK the cost of postage and import tax was £10 MORE than the cost of the 2 rolls of film. If you buy 2 or more rolls it is still cheaper than other UK/EU options unfortunately.. UK ones are priced at GBP5-6/m against HK prices of GBP2-3/m. Christopher Royce
I have used Banggood film on my last four models. Wot 4, Rc trainer, ghost rider, and frog jackdaw. The film is limited in colour choice and takes ages to arrive but I think it is very good.
