Bob Howard
Can anyone help me? My 12 year old Futaba 7C 2.4GHz Tx is in great condition, and still works perfectly. The only issue is largely cosmetic - the aerial swivel is damaged. I have bought a new aerial in original the Ripmax packaging (part no. Y-9M99Z02203) which has the correct fitting, but is approx. 30mm shorter than the existing aerial. I am concerned that this may result in reduced range. I have emailed the Ripmax Service Centre for advice, but they are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Does anybody out there know anything about this? Martian
Won't hurt to fit it then do a range check
Bob Howard
Already thought of that. If the range is affected, it means stripping the Tx down twice. The connection to the circuit board (miniature spade terminal) is not the most robust in the world, I am reluctant to place it under any strain more often than I can help. sharpy1071
I have a 7C which is broken, salt water got into it and messed it up. I'm going to throw it out the arial is 100mm from hinge to tip. Where are you? might be able to help you.
Alan H
I would be very surprised if there is anything wrong with the replacement antenna from Ripmax. Remember that the active bit is only around one inch long (look at a receiver aerial eg a 617 Rx). All that is likely to be different with your replacement is that there is a bit less feeder in the antenna housing.
Brian Hammond
I agree with Allan ,most of the cable is coaxial feeder .
Wingman
I have two 7Cs the older one has a tapering aerial 100mm long from the hinge and the newer one has a almost parallel aerial 80mm long from the hinge so I reckon you will be OK with the new replacement. Bob Howard
Many thanks guys. It looks as if Futaba changed the design at some stage, so the new aerial will be going on very soon.
Cliff Bastow
Bob, I had exactly the same issues with my T7C. I fitted the shorter aerial and it works fine with no range issues. cheers Cliff.
