Matt Carlton
Does anyone know what the current situation is at SLEC et al? The last info I had was a container expected at the end of May, but I'm still only seeing hard grade balsa available from SLEC (except 36x3") so I just wondered if anyone had any further info? Christopher Long 1
Why not ask SLEC directly, then you will know the answer?
Nigel R
36 x 3, no problem. If you need larger sizes... time for some creative splicing.

Because they have probably answered the same question umpteen times recently so I thought I'd ask here in case someone had recently asked. That seemed reasonably sensible. kevin b
It hasn't arrived yet Matt and I am given to understand that last week the ship still hadn't left the port. Then once it arrives the container (if they can find anywhere to unload it) has to be processed through customs and delivered by road to Slec. There, it has to be opened, sorted and then processed into nice modeller friendly sizes. So in answer to your question, if you are wanting to build and need specific cuts of wood. Don't hold your breath ! It will probably be a winter build. ? Edited June 16, 2022 by kevin b
Graeme White
Has anyone tried ordering direct from china? Just browsing aliexpress they have balsa in stock apparently for a very reasonable cost and for 10% extra you can request the light grade. Longest length I can see is 500mm but this could work. John Lee
At Weston Park today both SLEC & Balsa Cabin had loads of balsa. I wasn't in the market for any so did not examine closely but there appeared to be plenty of all sizes.
