leccyflyer
As noted above nylon is very very tough, but it takes so much dope to make it fully airtight and smooth that it seemed to always end up very heavy. I used to cover my spectacularly unsuccessful control liners with it and the comment about it making a nice ready-made carrying bag for the bits is spot on. David Davis 2
Good video on applying tissue over mylar here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2dx5MGD4_c This thread features applying polyester dress lining over doculam, Post 16. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3845901-VOK-2021-Veron-Deacon/page2 AFAIK the only difference between mylar and doculam is that doculam has a heat sensitive adhesive backing but mylar hasn't. Simon Lumsdon 2
Leccyflyer, lol, yes i can remember a control line model i had with nylon covered wings, after a few crashes it rattled where the internals had disintegrated but the covering still held its shape. i do have a mostly finished Tomboy in the workshop covered in tissue, already has holes from hangar rash that need repairing, forgotten how fragile it is. Ariel
Have a look at Diacov 1000 from Sarik. Really good on compound curves and the seams disappear, it's light too. You need a very sharp scalpel to cut but I have found it to be much less fuss than any of the films. I haven't tried painting it yet because in the end I liked the natural colour on my glider https://www.sarikhobbies.com/product/diacov-1000-adhesive-film-for-model-aircraft/
