chris collis Posted February 24 Share Posted February 24 A couple of years ago I bought the Dg808 kit but never got around to assembling it.Looking at the wings,I’ve tried to locate appropriate high torque servos to fit in the cutouts but to no avail.Has anyone built this model and what servos have been used? From bitter experience, they are a little weak in the tailplane department and I would caution against fast flying. I usually use hitec metal geared servos in most of my models,mostly pss. I have a fly fly Condor that I’ve had to reinforce the tail end with carbon fibre. I’m not a huge fan of 125s as the geartrains were always a little fragile, but they will be more than man enough for the job torque wise. If you have them already, might as well give em a go. Dickw Posted February 26 Share Posted February 26 The Hitec 85 and 125 that you mentioned earlier are actually quite large servos for this application, and I would have thought something a bit smaller would be more than adequate - something like this https://www.4-max.co.uk/servo-emax-ES09MA.html It seems smaller than your existing cutouts, metal geared, and a very good price. As others have said, you don't need really high power servos for this model. Having said that, there is a build of this model on RC Groups where he also resorted to enlarging the wing cutouts to fit servos. Not personally, I've sen plenty of FlyFly models down the years though. Once suitably reinforced they fly well, so I don't doubt this one will too. Certainly spend some time reading that RCGroups thread @Dickw and I linked above though; there is lots of first hand experience in that thread. chris collis Posted February 26 Author Share Posted February 26 Just been looking at emax servos.I’ve used them before on a couple of models,OV 10 Bronco for one and found them excellent.I found that the link is very helpful as it goes on to a step by step building guide.
