Jon
I have made a timber thingamabob that sits under the wings and sandwiches a nice bit of round foam (pipe lagging) between it and the wing covering at the point of the C of G. I'd would include a photo for you but it would be a bit too embarrassing! Its not the best idea I'm sure and with a few mods here and there I have been able to use it for my last 4 planes. I'm trying to balance a Mini Extra 260 (AUW 19oz) which has quite an tight tolerance, just + or - a couple of mill. Whats your recommendations for the best C of G Thingamabob that works on most planes... I promise not to giggle at you photos

Alex Leigh
I used the patented "Lloydometer". Bit of stout wood with two pencils glued in and the tops of the leads sanded off. Cheap, easy, accurate. Pick
Jon
Do you use your thumbs then Martin? Do you find the pencil lead sticks into the covering Alex?
Alex Leigh
Sanded them flat-ish! It was only for the WT which is foam. Not tried it on anything with covering over wood.
Stefan Hafner
I'm with martin on this, thumbs work fine for me. I tend to start off wit the CoG slightly forwards then move it back as i get used to the plane, better to be safe, call me a chicken if u like

Ernie
Hi Guys, Take two bottles of wine (they should be the same) drink the contents, cut the corks to give a sharpish edge, put them back in the bottle with the edge exposed, and bingo, an instant balancing tool ernie
