Pat (rActive) Harbord
Is there anyone out there with Phoenix that would be willing to demonstrate the A test and then possibly coach me through it online? I'm really interested in finding out if its viable over the wires. I'm a back garden (12 acres of farm land currently) flyer and have a strange phobia about joining a club. Probably more to do with available time than anything anti social. I've been flying off and on since the age of 8 in the mid/late 70's. I would like to think I'm a competent pilot but probably not as disciplined as a club flyer.
Olly P
Thats an excellant idea. I know some guys get together in a model flying 'room' to fly so perhaps trying to find it and asking on chat there would work?
Pat (rActive) Harbord
Cheers Olly, I was going to suggest that I set up a session at an agreed time and see what happens.

Pat (rActive) Harbord
Olly, Pheonix is great. Do check that your machine is up to the minimum specmine is getting on a bit so the frame rate is a little low if I have all the bells and whistles turned on. Still really good though

John Privett
Hi rActive - maybe next time set up a session as Olly (I think) mentioned earlier;servername: RCM&E password magazine Then it keeps "outsiders" from jumping in... There's nothing really fancy required flying-wise for the A - just sensible, controlled flying. And any decent examiner should be happy to discuss the test with you beforehand - point out the heights, distances etc. he expects from you. John Privett
As I said in the session, the thing I found most difficult there (and this applies to most sims!) is keeping track of exactly where you are relative to the strip! MUCH easier in real life!
Pat (rActive) Harbord
Thanks again John Yep good call on the session name and password, I'm not too bothered about "outsiders" as long as they don't litter up the strip Next time my pal is up from dahn sarf, I get him to test me. Then who knows I might join the local club.
Merlin spit
hi guys if any of you are on phoenix this week it would be great to fly online
James Marr
it's very easy to do in real life, it also depends on the examinier you get.. some ask for precision flying, others just ask that you get it back on the ground safely.
