Flash1
I have recently started into lecky and have purchased a Revo Peak Charger which comes with a Tamiya connector.I have also bought two different flight packs (well known makes)and they both came with Tamiya connections.I have had no trouble so far.Are they realy as unreliable as Dave's RC Flight web site would have me believe? Erfolg
I personaly have no idea! There appears to be thousands of electric modellers, cars, boats and electrics from all over the world who seem to believe they are.How many have real experience I do not know, but I guess there is more than a bit of truth in their opinion.I only use gold connectors, because they have worked for me and are smallet than the Tamiya.RegardsErfolg
scott cuppello
They are not very robust, and do fail with repeated use......not bad, if a pain in an RC Car.....not funny mid-flight on an RC Plane!
Dead-stick
Plus they can't stand repeated high current draw......Bin 'em and use either Deans connectors or gold pin connectors. The initial extra cost is more than off-set by the cost of replacing a broken model, or worse!
Chris Dickens
Tamiya connectors are only rated at 12amps (I think) if you regularly draw 20+amps they will get very hot and melt. For years I used 4mm gold connectors but recently I have changed over to Deans ones. Tom Sharp
J Perkins Powerpole square connectors are even better. I have used them for 20 years.
Erfolg
You can buy a pack of Ultra Deans (plug & socket) for $3.25 (K C Products) or approx £1.6 from the USA. If you keep your purchase below £18 you avoid the duty. That is quite a saving from the £9 for 3 I have been quoted in the UK.I understand that Maxpoly cells come with Deans connectors pre-soldered.RegardsErfolg
