Brian Lambert
Due to a change of work location I am looking for somewhere to fly near to Stansted airport. I am staying in Great Dunmow. Does any one know of a local club?
Peter Miller
I know that there is a Stansted model flying club, I met a member recently in passing. Also one at Harlow I am told. Check the BMFA website

Bruce Richards
I am a member of the Harlow and District Model Flying Club (HDMFC) it's a good friendly club and our main field is outside of Harlow and a bit closer to Stansted then you might think. Google says 10 miles 20 mins.Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 02/11/2009 21:49:
Peter Miller
I doubt if the chap I met goes to Kent to fly. Stansted is close to Bishops Stortford in Herts so just down the road from Dunmow. I used to live just outside Dunmow. I was the founder of the old Dunmow MFC back in 54. Recently met up with one of the other founding members
Andy Gates
What models are you flying Brian? There is a club in Chelmsford and one Dunmow and Braintree (Hedgehoppers). There is one north of Stanstead the wrong side of Saffron Walden. I believe there is one near Silver End which is the wrong side of Braintree, and one in Rivenhall / Kelvadon. No info on either I am afraid If you planes classify as "Park fliers" then I would love to introduce you to the site I fly at, no club involved just the occasional flyer based in Braintree. Simon B
If you don't mind a short jaunt down the M11 towards Cambridge there's Impington Village College MAC and Cambridge MAC at Waterbeach
Brian Lambert
Simon B, thanks for the info I will put that away for future use. Waterbeach is about 45KM from my digs, in a straight line, a bit far i think.
Brian Lambert
Andy I fly mostly "crunchy" sport models but I am thinking that smaller foammodels may be the way to go for this particular situation.I have looked at the Hedgehoppers Web site and it looks very interesting so I will make inquiries with them. I would also be most interested in finding out more about your flying site at Braintree.Brian

ntsmith
Hi, Stansted Model Flying Club - does that sound the right area? Not the one in Kent but although we are based in Stansted (nr to the airport) we fly close to Saffron Walden which is pretty close. Go to http://www.stanstedmfc.co.uk/ for more details. I will have to get this listed on here.

birdy
I can say that there are two Stansted MFCs, 'cos I'm a member of one. .co.uk is the one you want, .com is my club.
