Ron Harrison
I need to source some M3 Pan Head Nylon Wing Bolts. The only place I have found them is on the Modelfixings Web Site. Trouble is their minimum order is £3 and that is a hell of a lot of Bolts. My local Shops do not have them that small! Any suggestions as to other sources would be appreciated. Tim Mackey
Could you not make up an order to £3 with other bits and bobs...after all its not a heck of a lot of money in total is it? I am sure there will be few other items listed which could be good to "have in stock"
Ron Harrison
Not that I am without appreciation of your suggestion but, they do not have anything else that I need, hence my post!. Even the number that is in the packet is going to last me a long time.
Braddock, VC
Ron, by the time youve driven a couple of places to look, phoned round and then decided it's so damned easy online to order the minimum quantities, they arrive after a couple of days and all your angst is gone and it'll work out cheaper too. As it happens I did exactly the same once, used them for holding tailplanes on the vintage jobbies, all sorts of things you'll find them useful for. 001
You should worry, most distributors put three bolts in a bag (when you need 4!) and charge £1.50 + £1.50 for postage. Start a business!
Ron Harrison
Very helpful I'm sure!
Ernie
Hi Ron, I have this problem all the time, 'cos the nearest model shop is about 4 hours round trip away, so I sympathise Look ahead, for all the jobs you are going to do in the future, and buy the bits that you are going to need. Also you will build up a supply of bits, for future use ernie
David Ashby - Moderator
Ron, order some other bits while at Modelfixings - you're bound to use 'em at some stage
Tim Mackey
I already suggested that, but it was rejected
Marko
if you cant afford £3 your in the wrong hobby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3mm nylon bolts will snap easy you say a load how many is a load????????? mark
Peter Miller
I find that I have trouble keeping my orders to Modelfixings down. They have so much that we need. Buy their caphead servo screws and their caphead engine screws and you will never use the Philips head again. You will also need the appropriate Allen keys. TRust me They are the best thing you can use. That will take you well over £3.
Aslan
Just use metal ones...... unless weight is a consideration. Edited By Aslan on 11/12/2009 09:40:
Ernie
Hi Guys Don't use metal ones, Nylon bolts are meant to break and so avoid damaging the airframe ernie
Aslan
True enough Ernie, fair point, just thought it was a small light model to be using 3mm bolts on the undercarriage, and even nylon bolts seem to stay put when the dreaded heavy landings occur.
