David Ashby - Moderator
Nice to see and isn't that wing a bit different too!
Erfolg
The wing does seems to be a high aspect ratio design. I am not certain, to me it seems that the wing forms a parabolic curve after lift of. I assume that this is my perception, given that the aircraft was probably well below max.load limit. Is this what you say is different, or other aspects? A quick look at the aircraft, leaves me pretty much unmoved, just another Boeing. Although I suspect that there will be many innovative aspects to the design. Then again the double decker a Airbus looks so different. Yes! an extra row of windows! 001
Must be the largest Carbon Fibre structure ever flown. (Most of the fuselage is CF). I wonder where the 2.4 Ghz aerial is?
Erfolg
Does not the A380 have a Glass Fibre and aluminium composite fuselage, another significant development. I think I have read (IMechE) that the wing centre box and spar boxes are CF on the A380. I wonder if they clip on aka Multiplex? The claims and counterclaims I am sure are all valid and both planes show real innovations in all respects. From a European perspective, all that US government money poured into the Boeing military projects VTOL etc. now probably seems well spent. No government help here then.. Simon Chaddock
For a prototype, presumably not fully loaded, those wings don't half flex!
Ady Hayward
Maybe it should be renamed the Boeing Flexwing. I dread to think where the wingtips will be when it is fully loaded and hits turbulence !
batcho99
Looks good doesn't it. The nose is the biggest thing to change from the Boeing 'norm' IMO, and yes, the wings have huge flex. Massive Trent 1000's too! The A380 has composite/alloy wings Erfolg.
James40
I'm not sure I'd like to be in a fully composite aircraft during a lightening strike, composite and high current don't mix so well. Lets hope it has a good weather radar
