  1. I`d love the haynes manual as my father in law was a radio mechanic at Bardney during the war and it would be good to see what he was involved with. Eric
  2. If you can get any assistance from a contractor/government, make sure that your loft is emptied of all your old insulation . for some reason they react better if it is pointed out to them that it is the property of a pensioner who is so poor that they cannot afford any insulation whatsoever . also if you fit thermostatic valves to a central heating system leave at least one radistor in the system (possibly the bathroom) without any form of thermostatic valve regards eric
  3. Surely if the driver can average 90 mph for the second lap then his average over 2 laps will be 60 mph or am i missing something ?

  10. My wife and I were at East Kirby last July and they were holding a memorial service for 5 bomber group who were based in the area and the highlight of the day was a taxi trip in the Lancaster . we also did the tour around Coningsby where we asked about tracing her fathers war service record as he had served his time at Bardney airfield as a radio fitter. we then went on to Bardney aiirport where we found that a model flying club were based in the old control tower as their club room which we examined with one of the members . It alll got a bit emotional for my wife as she realised that she was stepping into an area where her late father had spent his youth .
  11. The unofficial rumour was that the Spitfire engine were found in the Jaguar plant at Castle Bromwich and were buried under the old airfield which is now the Castle Vale housing Estate . Might be a good idea to demolish it and look for the engines which were supposedly placed inside crates before burial .

  14. I use a Brother MFC-235C inkjet printer and get my refills from IJT who also offer deals on injet and laser printer whereby you purchase a load of cartridges, etc and they give you the printer for free , may be worth checking their website
  15. Terence Glad its made a good impression on you , its a shame other people ignored the fact that Rover could build good quality vehicles at a reasonable price .Perhaps they would still have been in business otherwise .
  16. Terence is it the 1.8 turbo petrol K series engine ? If so then you need to consider a cam belt change at 60K , also keep an eye on the temp / gauge as any overheating / loss of coolant could result in softening of the alloy and having to replace the engine . loss of coolant due to head gasket problems is a possibility but we were working on a multi layer gasket ( similar to the KV6 engine ) just before the plug was pulled in 2005 which cured the problem which I believe is now available as an aftermarket replacement . however having painted the worst possible scenario if the engine is OK and the car is the right price go for it as it is a good drive and comfortable and most parts are stilll available .
  17. It`s a fairly standard Landy 2a series fitted with series 3 wings so that you have got extra lighing at the front end , fairly common mod .
  18. If you have a nozzle adaptor on the hoover use that with a pop sock/stocking/tights taped over the nozzle and clean the floor . ( the pop sock .etc stops anything going up into the dustbag so you can see what you have vacuumed up ) hope this is of use and you find the circlip.
  19. I`ve got a Mk 1 1970 BSA Rocket 3 which I purchased in 1978 (it was the one BSA I always promiised myself from when I worked there ) various other bikes came & went; honda cb 750,kawasaki kh 400,suzuki rg 500 etc which culminated in me racing F2 sidecars until a massive accident at the Southern 100 in the Isle of Man .. off work for 10 months and the wife threatening divorce if I went racing again so I put the Rocket back on the road again
  20. we always have goose for the main meal (so much more tasty than turkey) and I then have 5 gallons of home brew to get through, probably will not remember much about Christmas which is how I like it.

  22. If you get a relatively new van make sure you obtain the CRIS registration form from the seller and that the Vin number matches the numbers that are etched onto the windows & chassis (DO NOT ACCEPT ANY EXCUSES e.g I will post it to you) Try to keep the weight difference between car & caravan at /or below 85% remember that different speed limits apply when you are towing. I can recommend Bailey`s,I have had two over the last 6 years (admittedly 28 foot twin axle) but they were both excellent. what are you using as a towing vehicle ?
