  1. Had several flights this morning with a few club mates. Our field is fairly high up on the south downs and at times we could see as far as the Solent. There was only a light breeze but the murk blew up from the coast a few times and we had to keep fairly low to stay out of it.
  2. SM Modellbau do them, thoroughly recommend. **LINK**
  3. My club ran a 'one model type' build again this year, the model chosen being the Kung Fu. At the meeting last week eleven were brought along to be judged (although one was actually a control-line version!). They have now all flown except one (the builder is away on holiday), including the control-line one. Two of the three missing from the group photo have since flown. The second photo is mine coming in to land with the battery hatch undone!
  4. None left at Petersfield or Cowplain (Waterlooville) I'm afraid Kevin
  5. Sadly in this country, after years spent on various investigations and court proceedings, hundreds of eye witness reports, and many thousands of pages of paperwork, a committee will decide that someone made the wrong snap decision in the heat of the moment, and promptly crucify them Edited By Andy Palmer on 15/06/2017 19:31:18
  6. Posted by Gordon Whitehead 1 on 05/05/2017 20:50:37: My 92% scale Slik Fli was a super flyer, but ended its days crushed when the garage roof of our RAF married quarter fell in and smashed it. Gordon Gordon, that has to be the best tale for the demise of a model I've seen yet! Sad, but brilliant! Andy

Very easy, even though it's all in German!, but English instructions here. If all you want is a Vario you can make one for around £12 with an Arduino board and bariometric sensor, I've made a few now. I'm not clever enough to make one but I agree, it's fairly easy to set up the Unisens-E using the English instructions.
  8. I use the SM Modellbau UniSens-E one and it's pretty small, simply plugs in between the battery and esc. It sends lots of info, current, capacity used, rpm, voltage, as well as the vario and altimeter. My glider is a foamy, an Art Tech ASK-21.
  9. Ikura, a mate took a photo of me holding my Cockpit SX the other day as he said it looked as if I was holding it upside down. I think it's the lack of aerial that makes it appear a bit strange at first but you soon get used to it. I have loads of the cheap RX-5 receivers and they have all performed perfectly. I also have some RX-5's with telemetry and one RX-7 dual rx. Yesterday I was flying a 2 metre electric glider (fitted with an RX-5 single rx with telemetry) and hit some really strong lift. When the speech announced I had passed the 500m altitude mark I bottled out and spun down! I took this photo showing the maximum readings after I had landed. 520m is 1706 feet!
  10. Posted by Ikura on 20/05/2017 08:07:54: One of the guys I fly with is really impressed with the Cockpit SX9 and has decided to sell his Spektrum DX9 and buy the SX9. I have the latest version Cockpit SX (the C3)and having seen, heard, and tried mine a clubmate has just sold his Spektrum gear and bought a Cockpit SX. I sold my previous Cockpit SX (a C2) to another clubmate who has also now sold his Spektrum gear.
  11. I spotted this Fred at the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre last week. Well worth a visit if you're in the Newquay area.
  12. That looks like a pretty powerful motor for it...!
  13. I tried a bit of nostalgia, pretended I was back in my single channel days in the 60's, and tried to fly without moving the elevator control at all. I lasted about 5 seconds before I gave in and used the elevator!
  14. Mine flies on lipo, does that qualify?

Not sure mine looks terribly male in pink...! It's ok Andy, he's just a bit camp. Lol!
