Hi Tony, I built a PB Bean a few years ago but I'm a bit ashamed to say I haven't yet flown it! I attached the canopy with two screws, one at the front & another at the rear, into pieces of dowel. Strips of Solartrim finish it off. It's quite secure.

One of these might suit: **LINK**

Good to see the Scorpion available again & at a great price. A bit more conventional looking than the Magician - which I think is a great model.

DB Excellence electric conversion
Richard Wood replied to Stuart Marsden's topic in Electric Flight for Beginners
Hi Stuart, 10 minute flights are possible with the 3700 3 cell pack with mixed throttle flying, but I generally limit the flight time to around 8-9 minutes as I like to leave a bit left in the tank. I don't feel the larger battery is unnecessary weight - others will always have opinions on this forum! -
DB Excellence electric conversion
Richard Wood replied to Stuart Marsden's topic in Electric Flight for Beginners
Hi Stuart, A 3s based LiPo setup is probably the way to go. I haven't converted the DB Excellence, but I do have a SIG Kobra, originally designed for around a .25 glow, converted to electric which flies very well on 400W or so. It uses a 3S, 3700 mAh battery, 9x6 APC prop, 60A ESC (well over-rated for cool running) and a 3542-1250kV outrunner. The motor rear mount is fixed onto the engine bulkhead via standoffs. There are other motors around that would very likely be suitable & you could go down to a slightly lower kV to swing a larger prop as the model is a tail dragger with good ground clearance. For solid sheet surfaces & veneered foam wings - after covering. Before covering for built up surfaces - for the reason you mention!

I've always found them helpful too. A shame their own line of 2 strokes are no longer available. -
Another LMS gone

If you want anything else you have to ask at the counter, whereupon someone treks out back into the w/hse at the rear and brings you (hopefully) what you've asked for. Archaic, clunky, and not a comfortable or easy way of shopping - especially if you have a list of quite a few items Brings to mind the Two Ronnies Four candles sketch! I haven't used SRC but their ads in RCME were always interesting. Hope they succeed, we can't afford to lose any more shops. -
For 4mm liteply a hole saw mounted in a pillar drill. Protect the exit cut with scrap wood to prevent ripping.

Hi Karim, How about a Ben Buckle Mini Super. **LINK**

A tank bay I once coated in polyurethane varnish 'pickled' a little from 5% glow fuel from a tank leak. As said above - epoxy resin is a very good fuelproofer & the finishing types are very easy to brush on. Edited By Richard Wood on 11/10/2016 13:29:41

The Airtek & Electricwingman websites are both showing stock of the metal geared HS225MG. Very good servos.

Don't recall seeing that. The instructions do mention using metal elevator quick links with big engines though. -

A Wot4 would make a great little glider tug. My latest Mk3 is nearly complete & I'm using 2 Hitec HS225MG servos for ailerons. -
Traditional Wot 4 Mk3 Build - Suggestions Please

Hi Tim, The mk3 kit is very good quality & a great flyer - good choice! An OS55AX will no doubt be a good match. I've built one or two but not with the airbrake option - the model flies very well at low speeds as it is. It might be interesting to have a crack at it though... -
As you've found, manufacturer's figures are often way off. Often wonder how accurate the Wattmeters we use are though... Sounds like the motor is at its max rating with the 15x8 but you won't be using full throttle all the time. Good luck when you get it flying - any pics of your Wot4 XL e-conversion?
