  2. All spelling/grammar "discussions" invariably separate in to two camps. Those who can spell and construct sentences properly and have varying degrees of tolerance towards the other camp, and those who can't spell and indignantly insist that they should be left alone.  It's also remarkable that, on other forums I visit, foreign members who are learning English quite often ask for their posts to be corrected, and discuss their mistakes. Yet I have never once seen a British bad speller ask for similar help or make any attempt to improve themselves.  As for spell checkers - a waste of time. Pretty much all of the most common errors will not be picked up by a spell checker. They're their there your you're its it's And my biggest pete hate - loose and lose. I could go on but you get the idea. But my biggest irrational hate about this thread is that BEB clearly stated modelling related irrationalities yet it turned in to a slanging match about, well, this here.  So.........shall we start again in a new thread or carry on here?  Edited By Michael Evans on 25/11/2010 06:56:04
  3. Thanks David. I'll stop by sometime on a weekday and have a look.
  4. I'm just down the road from them in Crawley. I used to stop at that shopping parade years ago now and again at a satellite dealer. Parking used to be a problem. Has it changed?
  5. I remember that place in Lincoln. It looked like you could build the teleporter machine from The Fly with bits in that place.

As for its slow crawl in to the sky off the base launch ramp using just its rear thrust jets - that's just plain stupid.  I've always thought it a great idea for a passenger jet though. If the main body has a tech fault just before departure,  just drop the passenger pod out and put it in another body.

  8. My first engine - a Wen Mac 049, in the late 1960s. My first engine test bed - my bedroom chest of drawers. I screwed the engine to the side of it using the radial mount holes, waited until my mother had gone out, opened the windows wide and did it. I ended up coughing and choking on the exhaust which filled up the room in spite of it being pointed right out of the window, until I had to rush out to breathe in some fresh air. Over the ensuing balmy school holiday days the exhaust residue slowly took its toll on the furniture, paintwork, wallpaper. But I got away with it.
  9. Photography. Lots of it. I have loads of cameras, digital and film. I have a couple of big overseas trips a year and come back with a few thousand pictures. I do a little bit here in between, like trips to the country and coast, as well as the odd model show.  So I spend lots of time on the computer playing around with the photos and other stuff.  Apart from that, it's just trying to keep on top of all the house jobs, and computer stuff.  Would you believe that I actually have a mirror on my computer desk so that I can watch the tv behind me at the same time and keep on top of my recorded tv progs. Sad multi-tasking.

  13. Posted by Wingman on 01/11/2010 09:22:58: I wrap the servos in masking tape which is quite 'grippy' for adhesive then use UHU POR to stick 'em. When it comes to removing, just slit the tape along the top of the servo and peel back to free the servo then the tape can be peeled or cut/scraped from the foam.  One needs to be very careful with masking tape in any situation. It is an absolute pig to remove if left stuck to anything for any length of time. That's if you ever manage to remove it at all. My work place is always at risk of being turned in to a builder's yard portakabin with people sticking bits of paper to walls with masking tape which leaves most of it behind when removed.  And many years ago I put some on a car windscreen rubbers for a respray. Delays meant that the tape stayed on for a few months and became immoveable. New rubbers had to be purchased.
  14. It's not a scam. I got this too, being a Reflex customer. The Reflex was an excellent sim. I'm guessing its replacement will be worth a look.

Mixing talc in to dope to make sanding sealer. Bolting an engine to my bedroom chest of drawers and running it. Mixing my own diesel fuel and getting high on the ether.
