  1. With the amount of police in london it probably could have been stopped on the first night, but they want the country to be scared of it happening to them, so all that will come of the troubles over here is more "laws" to control us further and erode our liberties, like the terrorist act brought out a few years back, gave the police extra powers of stop and search, dispersal of people in area`s etc, yet not one terrorist has actually been caught due to it. its started already theyre thinking of bringing in curfews, stopping social media sites and that blackberry messenger etc Edited - Please avoid overtly political statements peeps . 2. i bought a super air at weston park, im not very impressed with the build quality, dont know if mines a friday afternoon jobbie but one of the elevators was hinged so tight it kind of popped over each side of the stabilizer and stayed there where moved, and one of the ailerons was hinged like a banana, was only £60 so i guess you get what you pay for, havent flown it yet but im hoping from the good comments, it makes up for the extra work needed to get it airworthy
  3. i bought one of them there mustang fun fighters from PB at weston and it came with a plan so i dont think its every kit they are doing not including it, i do think the kit was expensive tho, at £75 for a pair of foam wings, a few pieces of balsa and ply and a small hardware kit
  4. i use a long melamine shelf with 2 layers of cork floor tiles glued to it one side and my slec building jig stuck / balsa stripperer on the other side, 2 for the price of one, also when your using the cork side the bar for the stripper holds itself against the worktop to stop it moving, then for the flip side, hey presto the friction of the cork tiles stops it moving
  5. steve if they were connected in series then if 1 blew the rest wouldnt light as it opens the circuit, and unless the connections are really poor the volt drop across the cables in a small area as a mirror would be negligable, the most probable is the finger prints
  6. theyre banned in wales ftb but not the rest of the uk yet i think, cos we loves our animals here in the land of our fathers ( no sheep jokes ! ) lol
  7. i wouldnt say its that small tom, i just measured it against my seagull boomerang and its about the same size, so around average 40 size trainer wingspan and length ish, your best bet would be to go to the shop and ask there, have a look at the kits etc, its always better to get up close and personal with a kit than just pics on a webpage i find
  8. ive not long bought a kyosho spitfire artf, for around .50 size engines, its excellent quality, i havent started putting it together yet but looks easy enough and at around £140 with retracts included isnt going to break the bank either, here
  9. ive been using a couple of orange fasst recievers since xmas time and haven`t had any problem, touch wood lol, like has been said with the thousands of them being churned out theres bound to be the odd one that sneeks through qc but that goes for everything mass produced these days, my genuine futaba charger that came with my t7c was faulty, lost a model on the 2nd flight through the rx battery not charging properly, then gave out the magic smoke the next time i used it, if id have checked it, it wouldnt have happened. so the secret as with anything electrical is to check to make sure it is working properly before using, if you range check them ok etc then youl find any problem on the ground rather than in the sky
  10. from what i understand, it will give you more time, or the same sort of time with the throttle open more, its sort of like fitting a bigger fuel tank in an i.c. plane
  11. Perhaps I'd better not mention then that my £7.80 got me a 500g reel...     its like any other illicit substance then, its still as easily available, just more expensive ! lol
  12. why not use the leaded if your having problems, i bought some from my local b+q yesterday, a little 100g reel for £7 odd, just dont breathe the fumes in
  13. perhaps its a loyalty bonus ? or otherwise everythings always cheaper by direct debit anyways, saves on "manpower" of having to speak to someone with creditcard details or walking to the bank with a cheque, and charges from using cards etc, its free to recieve direct debits but you get a little charge to process cards/cash payments dunno about the gift tho, thought that was brand new customers only ???? lol
  14. Well i enjoyed it anyway, that 262 and glider was amazing, the full size stuff great, some amazing scale models, i aboslutely loved the bombing raids on both days, even tho a couple of the aerobatic lads are members of my club and i see them flying all the time, some of the stuff they do still amazes me with a model costing as much as those in money and effort, there was also the cars and boats up the top end and heli`s the other end of the site so i dont know how people got bored with that much to see went for the whole weekend camping for £45, there was lots on after the daytime show had finished - band, night flying, fireworks etc, took my own food and drink etc cos where ever you go to any kind of show the burger vans etc are extortionate, i did have a couple of good buys early on saturday, most had gone by the afternoon, but the early bird catches the worm as they say the way i see it you cant blame event organisers / traders for the price of fuel, food etc everything has to be paid for and they`re obviously not just doing shows just for the love, everybody has to make money too, there are some obvious ways of saving yourself a few quid with a bit of effort, im going again next year and cosford next month, if we dont keep them going ill stake money there will be threads on here moaning about the lack of shows in the future
  15. i had a similar thing occur to the first incident, turned out to be the standard charger that came with the radio kit that was goosed, lost a boomerang trainer when it happened, been flying about 2 mins then totally nothing, i checked the battery with a multimeter before flying and it showed 5 Volts no load, after the crash one of the lads tested the battery for me on load and it went down to less than 3 Volts, went home and plugged the batt into the charger to get a fizzing noise and some magic smoke both were replaced under warantee, couldnt do anything about the boomerang tho but now i use my multi charger and ive got one of these now to check its condition while getting ready for a flight, it shows charge condition at a load of 1 to 3 Amps where i was testing with no load and getting an ok reading, if id have known at the time i coulda saved £70 odd quid, building new kit, loss of flying time etc Edited By neil whilding on 20/06/2011 00:20:36
  16. turned out to be not a bad weekend weather wise after all, except for the heavens opening everytime the dawn patrol lads tried to fly on the saturday, ive got a sun burnt head and face, either that or i was standing a bit close to the fence when the bombing raid was on lol, and the new tent survived dry and intact weyhey
  17. going for the weekend, first time trying out my new trailer tent, just hope its proper waterproofed judging by the weather forecast
  18. jeeeez thats gonna be a short youtube vid if youve never flown before it will last about 10 seconds in the air then get smashed to bits, put it away for a while and get a proper trainer, learn how to fly poperly, in a club, with insurance, then when you have built up the skill to fly a model plane properly, your warthog may last the length of time to get a decent bit of video footage
  19. lol @ boggy I live in wrexham ( someone has too ) and I nearly ran that bloke and his horse that tried to get on the train over one afternoon last week, they were coming from the pikey camp a couple of miles down the road from where i live, he just stopped dead in the middle of the road and wouldnt budge, he`s goin around everywhere with it the nut job
  20. if you put all your bank details into the online lark, thats the request for a refund and it goes straight into your bank, got mine back in 3 weeks trouble is ive spent most of it already lol
  21. i thought that bins didnt get taken out on a bank holiday ?
  22. the adapters mate the thread craig, not the actual rod itself, you solder the adapter on the end of the rod them screw on the clevis, its been years since ive built a model from a kit so im re-learning myself, i dont know about using epoxy other than you`l have no length adjustment once theyre set on, if they`ve lasted 3 years it cant be that much of a no no ?
  23. Great cheers for the replys, it does recommend silver in the maual but as theres no heat generated etc i cant see the need, plus ill loose all my building time waiting for an order of the stuff to silver solder it
  24. morning folks, finally got a bit more free time to crack on with the p-51 now theres none of that boring work stuff in the way for a few days, im installing the pushrods etc into the fuz before doing the sheeting and they need the threaded adapters soldering on for the clevises, question is can i use normal electrical / plumbing solder or is there reasons they need to be silver soldered on ? thanks in advance, neil
  25. sounds more like boots fault than the NHS, they took the samples wrongly and you can only work with what your given, and you made the decision to go to a shop rather than the hospital so you cant lay all the blame at their door, i think theres too much bashing of our health services, and as for complaints not being made public its usually only the bad stories you do hear about, same as everything if you do a good service its just what people expect and most of the time you dont even get a thanks, do something wrong and you never hear the end of it. Insted of slating them think of the person who contacts you personally and has arranged for you to go back time again, yes they made a small omission by not telling you to go to a specific part of the hospital, but as you say they were apologetic and as they probly have a few hundred samples to test every day as well as everything else to do as part of their work they have a lot more on their minds
