  1. Have loads of Irvine's Os and SC/ASP. Thay are all good, just the SC is cheaper. Have a 52, but I'd go for the 61FS. Same size/weight, but more power. Have one that replaced the 52, which goes much better on a 61 SC.
  2. I've got a converted strimmer engine. No silencer, just a straight through chamber. Very loud and raucous. Don't fly it much, as gives me a headache. Was measured at 110 db!
  3. I believe they died in a place of their passion - flying. Also entertaining for the crowds, as with any pilot. Like Red 4, the cause will be found. Today a picture of Red 4 prior to crashing shows a bright light. A clue, perhaps? Paul
  4. Found out that the full-size Pitts S12 called "The Beast" crashed in an airshow in Kansas last weekend. Both pilot and aircraft were killed. Looks like it went into a deep stall/spin, and tried to recover. Bryan had plenty of height and kept trying to bring it out of the stall. The knowlageble commentator knew he "had lost control" as soon it had started to get into difficulty. Of course, there are two rc models of the aircraft, a BNF Park fly version and a large scale version. I wonder if someone would bring out a smaller 50 and 120 size version. To keep the beast partnership alive at the flying fields... RIP to Bryan Jenson and his "Beast".
  5. I have the Spacewalker. Great value at £89. Mine has a Saito 60 flat twin in it, but good with a normal 46 2 stroke. Edited By Paul Marsh on 17/08/2011 22:47:24
  6. I've got a few flat twins. The Saito 60 twin can lose a cylinder, but sometimes ok. The Gemini's and the other 160, like Magnum, have two, all seem fine, even without on-board glow, except for starting. As mentioned, run it a little more richer, as one pot might need a richer mix, to keep running.
  7. There isn't a right and wrong mode, but Mode 2 is the best mode... Also Mode 2 has an advantage - apart from being the best , is ideal for hand-launch models, where one has full control on the other hand from the launch hand.
  8. Help!!! I tried to get reliable operations from the engines. Problem is that one engine sprays fuel through and out the hole in the carb, and the other just blows all the pipes off. The tank is sturdy, using cable clips at all points, and using thick walled pipes. The engine gets to run ok, on the other without the carb problem, but keeps blowing the pipes, or rupturing the pipes where it can see a weak point... After this, I'm thinking why the Ultimate died a death, and thinking of converting both to pumped unpressurized systems. Is it possible? Any help or suggestions, please.
  9. I use Model Technics Sport 5 for all my engines, 2 and four stroke. Only use Contest 10 on a couple of engines which need more power.
  10. I sent mine back last week. Just shows how handy it is having loads of TX's. Still could use the DSM9 on spektrum at last weeks RCM&E fly-in, and one model originally was on 35Mhz, and then to DX8 2.4, went back to 35Mhz, as the model memory was still in the JR 3810. phew! Still, my faith in Spektrum has been dented, and will do a full range-checks, and other checks, before comitting it back into main use. I might relegate the DX8 to PK foamies and buy JR/Spektrum RX's, instead, still we'll see...
  11. I've got a few AR500 receivers. One has it's long antenna snapped off. I know you shouldn't use it, in that state, but decided to try it out and put in a small electric delta, then took it at extreme range, No problems, full control at all times.
  12. Will be doing a bit of N.F. at Weston this weekend. Have a Swift II with bright LED's Quite easy to make it out and I have a novel party trick:- I can switch the lights off and on via the TX. Great fun, and confuses the hell out of the spectators. Phil (crasher) Padley used to fly a Rapier Delta at weston with a few bulbs, until they failed, and you could hear the plane going through the trees! Note to self: Get another electric night-flyer at Weston Park. Actually my Twin star is still ok (10+ years old and original motors) would go better with Li-poly and fit some LED's... Question: What shall I get? Cost no object, but want something quick and fun to fly. Edited By Paul Marsh on 14/06/2011 21:55:50
  13. Been flying this. Has a 40FP and goes well. Bought the whole plane/engine servos for £20 off a farmer, who found it in the attic. Needed the tailplane repairing. Flew it today, a fast flyer for a 40FP, and just enough power for sport flying.   Edited By Paul Marsh on 11/06/2011 16:47:02
  14. sorry about the loss. The only thing I can think of is either undervoltage. Did you check your receiver before you powered it down? If the receiver was flashing, would indicate loss of power. Unless the battery got detached in the crash...
  15. Have you tried Mich Charles Models in Ewell. Has quite a few older kits. I'd been looking for a Ripmax Extra Slim Twin. He had two, which have been on the shelf 10+ years!
  16. Hi, Alan Nope, not selling it. Would be nice for the plane, still need to buy the on-board glo-driver, though... petrol would be cheaper to run, as it takes 52 oz tank, where a 62 zenoah will get much more duration, and I reckon more power.
  17. I've got 2, one brand new, and the other little ran. Some people say they had problems with it, but am sure it may be operator error. OS stopped producing them, and got a new one of Inwood for £200!
  18. The OS FP range is my favourite engine range. The LA range are ok, but the FP's are much easier to prime and get going quickly. Got them all, including the OS 60FP, which is a good plodder engine.
  19. I've got a OS 50cc Sirius Radial, which would be great for this model.
  20. Hi, It's my first post, and just bought the MX2 Yesterday. For £99, all in, is good value to money.
