Forum members' new models: Let's see them.

Congratulations. That's a good looking model. Is there a build thread or somewhere where we can see some details? -

Eric, asking if we want a build log of something cool like the Sunderland is like asking if we want blue skies and no wind to fly in. Of course we do 😄 -
I love the Velie Monocoupe. Such a pretty little plane. There's a guy in my club that built one with an open rocker OS. Everytime I see it I say to him "I hope you're looking after my plae" hahaha. Maybe I'll get around to building one one day. I have a couple of small 4 strokes that are spare so I'd use one of those 😄

Peter please tell us that the plans will be available for the Velie Monocoupe 😃 Have you got any details on it? -
That's the one haha. Thanks. Jon's developments are our field of dreams haha.

Your boss must not be much of a visionary like yourself. You can't sell what you don't have. It's like that saying from that movie of the name that escapes me. "Build it and they will come". I have a a 360v for a project but I have often thought of buying another one for another project that I have a Zenoah G62 for but given that they have never been in stock when I've looked I've just dismissed the idea.

Thanks for the update @dhendley. Although I was a little grumpy to begin with I found a work around and it's all good but I do look forward to having the full size plans available once it is sorted out. Thanks in general for offering up the plans digitally 👍

Haha and here I was thinking I was doing something wrong haha. Every time I put in my email and customer ID it was telling me that my details were wrong. Glad to know I'm not going crazy haha.

Well I thought about it long and hard. I played around with the pdf that you can download and played around with my printer and pdf settings and got a reasonable result so I decided to renew my subscription as just a Digital one. I figured that if I really needed the printed magazine that I could just buy it when it hits the stands. I would however like to see the full size plans placed somewhere like a drop box or something like that where subscribers could download those instead of the small ones. That would be the best solution I think.
-
Yes I agree. It's great to see the step forward and offering the plans but having the ability to download the full size plans is necessary.
-
Yes it might be 17GBP if you were to buy the actual plans from Sarik but yes the free offering in the digital sense is not worth it at the moment. At this stage I'm leaning towards just re-subscribing to the Print and Digital so that way I do get the value.
-
Ron, what you're saying is exactly right, however unless we get vectorised PDF's the next best option would be to download the PDF's, re-scan it back in at the highest of possible resolution (1200dpi or something high like that) then resize it so we don't lose the clarity. Yes that would probably work but geez it's a lot of mucking around.
-
I'm not trying to be negative here either. I think the offering of the digital plans is a great thing however I just think the execution is a little off at this stage. If we can be given the plans at 100% of the original size and not have to worry about trying to scale them to the right size then they are onto a winner.
-
I have just been speaking to a friend and he is a digital subscriber too. He downloaded the plans and he has the same issue with them being the size of an A4 page. He has tried to scale them up to the right size however because he has had to enlarge the size when printing all of the lines are enlarged leaving you with a thick fuzzy line. Not a thin, smooth line like you would get from the printed plans in the magazine. That's not going to work. Especially if you plan to cut your own kit.
-
And that was my thoughts exactly. We shouldn't have to worry about trying to get the right size on our end. Take for example if someone buys a short kit from Sarik to build this plane and they print the plans but the print is not exactly perfect then there'll be discrepancies and potential build issues. I don't know how to talk to the editors but yeah perhaps it is something that they should be made aware of.

Yes it is in acrobat reader that I am looking.
-
Yes Outerzone plans are fine when you download them and go to print them. The problem here is that the plans offered under our subscription are not full size plans. They are only the size of an A4 page. It is then up to us readers to accurately resize the page and print them. Seems like a potential recipe for disaster if you ask me. Sure it is awesome that the plans are offered to us digitally but the execution of the process is a little flawed.
-
Right ok then. So just to clarify then, the digital plans are not offered in full size. They are only offered in the reduced size.
-
Ok maybe I didn't explain myself well. When I downloaded the plans they only downloaded at the size of an A4 page. There was no options to save it as a 100% size or anything like that. It just downloaded as an 8"x11" page. I'm using the Page Suite online magazine reader that the Modelflying website takes you to when you click on the Digital Archives page.

Hello All, I see now that digital subscribers get access to a digital copy of the free plans which is awesome however when I went to the digital archive and download the plans they are only the size of an A4 page. Is there a way to get the digital copy without having to try and resize the PDF to the right size. To be able to resize the PDF requires the full copy of Adobe Acrobat which comes at a cost. Or am I missing something here? Cheers, Glenn.

Oh I'm conflicted now haha. I'm a current subscriber that is up for renewal. I'm in Australia so it takes forever for the magazines to get here. Albeit before the newsagencies do. The problem is I love reading the physical magazine but getting the plans is the icing on the cake for me but I do have an ever increasing pile of magazines. The question is do I now just go digital or both print and digital again . Decisions decisions hahaha.
-
Hello All, Now that there is new owners who's the best contact in terms of subscribers not receiving magazines. I'm in Australia which I know makes for delays but We are now near the end of October and the last one I got was the August copy and that was about 2 weeks ago.

I don't get on here very often so I've missed this build thread. The Avian is looking sensational. Just checking on the progress of it?

Hello Folks. I'm looking to purchase these plans for a future build (I'm about to start a Dennis Bryant Westland Widgeon). I was just wondering if you have commited aviation as yet Martin. If so how did it go? -
Hello Peter. It appears that your build thread has disappeared. Do you know what happened to it?
