  1. Paul, You can always finish off one of my planes if you don't have anything on! Tomtit, Tiger Moth, Condor re-build??? ?
  2. Wonder whether the unsold uk warehouse stock will be dumped; flogged off via ebay; shipped off to the EU warehouse or sold on as a bargain job lot to an agent/broker/salvage yard?
  3. I have a Saito 115 in an 82" PT19 model. It has a Saito 90 degree adapter then a Saito flexible extension tube and then the standard Saito muffler. That combo has done over 100 flights with no breakage issues. However, the engine is mounted on a Dubro anti-vibration mount and the flex tube is supported at 2 points on rubber mounts and the end of the muffler is supported on a rubber mount too.
  4. Just too far away to make sense. On the other hand a nice new Laser twin sounds attractive!
  5. Alors mon ami, Even in the UK it's not easy to get a clear gloss fuelproofer that resists 10% nitro fuel now that TuffKote is no longer available. I too would love to know what is available in France that works effectively as a fuel proofer and stands the test of time.
  6. Almost all hobby related articles have seen substantial price increases recently. Shortages have been evident for some time in respect of kits, engines, batteries, balsa and other materials. I think we need to remember that prices were "high" in the past. We enjoyed lower relative prices for a number of years but I fear those days are gone for good. My first 4 channel radio in kit form (HB) took me a whole summer of holiday work to buy!! And then I could only afford 3 servos. Glow fuel is not that expensive, glow plugs normally last for years and I intend to keep using my IC engines for many years to come. My Enya, Saito, OS and Laser engines are lost-lasting and reliable so I see no reason to not enjoy them for the foreseeable future. Oh yes, and I do have electric models too. But you can't beat the sound of a four stroke engine pulling a scale model around the sky.
  7. This is a really lovely model you have here Mark. Great workmanship. Very much enjoying watching it all come together.
  8. Personally I don't think this thread is the place for detailed discussion of electrical theory. It is not at all what the OP asked. A new thread would be the place to air different views on watt meters and to debate principles of physics.
  9. I was very unsuccessful with my control line models. Frog Gazelle with a DC Sabre. 2 Laps max and in the bin in pieces.
  10. Don't disagree with you Pat. I was going to sheet the underside to the spar. I just find the kicked up TE a bit strange and whilst cutting ribs it's no hardship to make them true NACA 2412. With strip ailerons one could add reflex ( if you really need it) just by adjusting the quick links. Got to build the model now!
  11. You should have built a Douglas TBD Devastator or BTD Destroyer to put that engine in Paul - rather than a Skyraider!! That engine has frightening levels of vibration. Hope the plane survives.
  12. Don't want to "muddy the waters" regarding the reflex issue. I don't disagree with what has been said by Peter and PatMc. But my take on this, is that it was to simplify the building of the kit. Why? The plan data box states it has an N.A.C.A. 2412 wing section. That is a bi-convex airfoil. The plan show a wing section with a distinctly flat, straight lower rear profile. Do doubt that was to make building the wing over the plan easier for beginners. The packing up of the trailing edge (reflex) was to give some sort of approximation to the NACA 2412 section that Phil Smith used on his original design. I could be wrong, but it makes sense to me! I too am looking at building a version of the Robot for 4 channel radio with a classic Enya15 engine for power. I will modify mine to have an accurate NACA 2412 section and see what happens!!
  13. Sounds good. Do you have grass or tarmac runway? Here we have rolled gravel as its too hot and dry for grass to survive the summer
  14. Yes, very impressive work Mark. I did have the plan for this model many years ago. I lent it to someone to have a look at and it never came back. Still it's very good to follow your build and like everyone else I'm looking forward to seeing it fly!
  15. Would have been nice to come and visit but we are pre- booked this weekend. It would be a bit of a drive from Alès but it would be nice to visit your part of France. Next year maybe??
  16. Wow. That engine of yours really does have a "killer" vibration problem!
  17. Yes Sanwa started with big "squarish" white plugs that were wired differently to Futaba and JR. Then they changed to a black plug that had the same non standard wiring. (And yes I too remember moving the wires around in the plugs to work on other makes of receiver) Then there was the blue Z plug that changed to the same wiring layout as JR/Hitech/Futaba. My memory is that it was very similar to a JR plug. These days many battery packs come with a "universal" type plug that fits JR/HiTec/Futaba and so should - I would have thought- work fine for your Sanwa Transmitter. Always best to check the wiring conforms on a new battery though before you plug it in. Picture below shows Left to Right Futaba; JR; Sanwa Z. They all have the same wiring order and the JR and Sanwa plugs look pretty much identical.
  18. And "Chatterbox" was featured as a free plan in June 2000
  19. The enlarged Mamselle (52") version was featured as a free plan in June 2003 RCM&E
  20. Paul, !t is a very nice Beaufighter. Flies well too.
  21. 3/8" = 9.52mm = .38 inch 7/8" = 22.2mm = .88 inch 9/32" = 7.14mm = .28 inch
  22. Well here's something to make you laugh. Having spent some time making and fitting new tappet adjusting screws for my Enya 53-4C today I was looking in my engine spare parts box. There I found some parts from an old restoration of an Enya 40-4C. Guess what - I spotted a sealed packet with a genuine Enya tappet adjuster - the exact part number I needed. OK I did need 2 of them and only had 1 in stock - so I would still have had to make one anyway. But I should have looked properly first! At least I now know that I have a spare one. Unless, of course, I forget again.
