  1. That’s the point Steve, it provides loads of model ideas to research.😉
  2. That's great thanks, I'll have a read of that later I still haven't finished my Sbach
  3. Haha! Thanks Adrian, it is great to hear from you. Have you any build blogs I've missed? I enjoy following them. And I know, I just fancied something different (I haven't flown gliders for 40 years!) and more convenient
  4. I know, thats the problem with window shopping! There's only two in stock so we'll see what Santa brings and let fate decide ps I just realised its your fault Dick - you provided the link to the website!!    Edited By Rich too on 23/12/2020 10:38:12
  5. I’ve been doing too much research and not sticking to a strict budget ! I like this a lot **LINK**
  6. Posted by Piers Bowlan on 21/12/2020 17:37:35: If Rich wants a model for windy days it needs to penetrate, no good having a floater (like a Gentle lady). Think MPX Solius or Heron - they glide well, thermal soar and can cope with strong winds too. I have a Radian XL as well John, it is a great floater but it is not great in a gale. If a model penetrates well in strong winds, chances are it will be aerobatic too. If on the other hand you want super low wing loading and a glider that will soar on a sparrow's fart, chances are it will be blown about like a paper bag in a gale - downwind! If you want a model that will do both you may have to buy something more exotic (expensive!). Edited By Piers Bowlan on 21/12/2020 17:38:52 Exactly, we very rarely have calm days so it needs to be usable in windy conditions. I'm now thinking 100" or 2.5 meters span would be ideal.
  7. Thanks guys. First and foremost I want a soarer, nothing that will thermal and float well - with the ability to fly on windy days. Aerobatics are secondary.
  8. Thanks for all the suggestions gents. I do not want to build one, and the Multiplex Heron appears to fit the bill nicely - thats the front runner!
  9. Posted by Dickw on 21/12/2020 10:45:37: I would start by having a look round the Hyerflight website to get an idea of good performers and take it from there. Dick Thanks Dick, some nice stuff there. But I've got enough building, I need something that will get into the air quickly!
  10. This looks good but I want something more relaxed and a floater https://uk.banggood.com/ESKY-Albatross-2600mm-Wingspan-EPO-Sailplane-RC-Airplane-Glider-PNP-p-1627367.html?rmmds=detail-left-hotproducts&cur_warehouse=ES     Edited By Rich too on 21/12/2020 10:48:55
  11. Hi Nick, What I really meant, was that it doesn't have to be a beginners model - I already fly. I flew gliders in my teens (thats how I learned to fly) and I haven't flown them since - 40 years ago! So, I just fancied getting another. I had a Ripmax Pheonix (??) in my teens and that was great flyer, however, it didn't have ailerons and it didn't have electric power - I used to fly off a bungee. I'm thinking £250-£300 if possible   Cheers     Edited By Rich too on 21/12/2020 10:35:54
  12. Hi there, I haven’t posted for a while. COVID has meant that I haven’t touched my models for a year but I’m back with a vengeance!!! I hope all members are keeping well. I’m looking for a good electric powered thermal soarer, any ideas? ATF and not too expensive. And a good performer. Something advanced is fine. thanks and merry Christmas!
  13. Header and cannister is a lot more effective but obviously take up a lot more room. HK used to sell them pretty cheap too.
  14. I am happy to supply a copy and/or upload to Outerzone, but how do I do it?
  15. Number 2 generally. I have often maddened in the past without finishing and fitting the cowl.
  16. That’s great Nigel, and cracking photos
  17. This is not unusual at all, I have a few models that are NLA and spares are impossible to find, very annoying but that’s how it is with a lot of models.
  18. And I don’t want to turn this into a political debate, but I do a lot of recycling, but I recently read that councils still don’t recycle all the stuff we bag up for them. Westminster council where I work are one of the worst, 80% of the stuff they receive doesn’t get recycled so to the OP, I would cremate it 👍 Edited By Rich too on 12/11/2019 06:58:29
  19. Posted by David Davis on 11/11/2019 13:01:38: I have a wood burning stove. Wrecked models make superb kindling! They will be banned before bonfires, so I am making the most of mine 😉 Whats worse, a bonfire in the garden or driving the waste to the local council tip?
  20. I really should have a panic for nostalgia. My modelling started with many Thursday evenings spent at the Avicraft store in the 80’s and yet I never owned one!
  21. Posted by Paul Marsh on 06/11/2019 18:40:30: around 540... You have a problem 😆😉 and where do you keep them all?
