spektrum dx6i transmitter battery contacts
Bob Bertram replied to osprey6500's topic in Gadgets and Electronics
I have 2 dx6i tx. Early on I converted them to rechargeables due to not liking the connectors possibly weakening whilst flying and losing signal. 5 rechargeable (2000mah) eneloop batteries at 1.2v make up the 6v. 3 are in the battery bay and two are hot glued inside the case in the hand grips (cheeks?). Wired up correctly they will work for ages. Hopefully the pc board hasn't been destroyed. Make sure they are wired up properly and the charger pin is the correct polarity. Sorry to hear about the divorce, we had our 50th last week. Amazed that I have so much stamina!!! -

I did fly one of the HR metal ones once or twice, didn't particularly like it that much. -

Superb model David, I have flown mostly the DR400 but a few hours on the DR315. Thanks Bob. -

Third Party Receivers- Lemon, Redcon and Orange etc
Bob Bertram replied to Tosh McCaber's topic in All Things Model Flying
I have been using both Lemon and Orange for quite a while without any problems. A clubmate has had problems with Redcon. -
4 flights today, took a elderly World Models Alpha e-glider, Radian XL and Gamma Pro. First flight was with the Alpha and with about a 40 second motor run I managed a 20 minute flight with 6 Buzzards at varying levels, some above and some below the Alpha over the flatlands of Suffolk. The Buzzards cleared off after about 10 minutes but I couldn't as I would have been out of bounds. What a start to the hopefully long lasting freedom! Unfortunately, no photos or video as the only other person was flying too.

Think I've cocked up but need to make sure!

I once lost a model for two weeks about 6 years ago and the battery was completely dead. Using the method Gary mentioned above brought the battery back to life. I'm still using said battery. -
Thnks again Steve, will have a gander.

Thanks Steve that sounds reasonable, may go for it as I have a birthday coming soon.

Hi Steve, as a matter of interest, how much was the postage? I'm tempted.

Thanks Cymaz

Peter, I maidened my Heron (kit version) between lockdown 1 and 2 and set it up with crow on the throttle stick and throttle on a slider. This was the first time I had used this arrangement and it works well, you just have to remember where the throttle is. I'm now going to change all my e.gliders that have crow enabled to this method as it seems more natural. Cheers, Bob

Conrad, your previous post was lost due to the website changeover. I replied that I used an Emax GT2820/07 motor in mine, Robotbirds have them in stock at £24.99 I think. Someone else replied and had used a motor from 4Max but I can't remember which one but only about £4 more and probably easier to get spares.

Recommend a flat field electric glider
Bob Bertram replied to Rich too's topic in Gliders and Gliding - General Discussion
I have recently maidened the Multiplex Heron which I bought as a kit from Pegasus, a fair bit of faffing to put it together which utilizes CA glues. Not my favorite adhesive, but the Heron parts are great quality and it flies very well indeed. It climbs pretty fast and takes a while to come down on non thermal days. -
