Gluing laser cut kits
Bob Bertram replied to Bob Bertram's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Thanks Erfolg, some test pieces were what I intended with different adhesives. In fact, I did one a little while ago but wasn't too impressed and being a doddery old twit, I can't remember which glue I used! Martin, I did spot that and will get hold of a bottle and do some tests. Another glue to add to my armoury. -

Have found quite a few threads on the forum regarding this. Why didn't I look first? -

Gluing laser cut kits

I was thinking more along the lines that the brown/burnt edges do not take glue that well. -
Does anyone lightly sand the mating surfaces of laser kits to get a decent glue joint? I read somewhere that you should but cannot remember where.

How are you buying your modeling stuff in 2020
Bob Bertram replied to Paul Marsh's topic in All Things Model Flying
I have decided to spend my money in the UK as much as possible. During lockdown have bought wood from Balsa Cabin and a Blink kit from AWD plus a motor, props and ESC from a couple of online shops. If I am desperate for glue, I have Hobbies about 3 miles away, nice ply too and Pegasus is only 24 miles. We need to support our own economy as much as we can. -
pegasus models amazing service

Although about 25 miles away, they are my local model shop. Always been great to do business with them. -
Peter Miller asks what next?

Oh dear! Another one on my to do list. -
Hi Matty, I bought one a while back and have had a few short flights most of which have been less than successful! Now repaired and awaiting for me to get my act together for another go. There is a French company on You tube that has some good videos called Opale Paramotors, have included one below. It has English subtitles and is for just the backpack type but the launch method is the same. I seemed to have more sucess with the ROG launch although you have to be quick to throttle back once it lifts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-71S14kg7aU&t=110s

Hi John, do you mean the depron 36" Long Eazy designed by Mike White? I have a copy of the build article which does not have brilliant photos but the text is ok. I can copy them or maybe scan them for you.

First "Drone" deliveries next week
Bob Bertram replied to TigerOC's topic in All Things Model Flying
I heard a few weeks back that the drones operating out of Lydd were on behalf of the Border Force lookin for illegal immigrants. The Navajo over Boulogne is probably doing the same. The Spot The Glider website picks up drones all over the country. -

Just re- reading your two Essential Tips books Peter. Lots of useful stuff and a few amusing bits too. Cheers Bob -
Phil, your workspace is positively tidy compared to mine. Watching your build with interest. My Whippit has been through the wars somewhat! Bob

For small quantities I use the plastic caps off of plastic milk bottles.

Mine will probably be OAP when it arrives!

Seems like it is still available on the adh publishing website

Thanks for the invite Rich, been meaning to arrive at one of the meets for a while. Will put it on my to do list for 2020. Haven't tried my Atom since the last re-build and my Whippet is coming back together but looks a bit moth eaten. Needs new blades but may just patch up the old ones. Have invested in a second hand Auto-G2 but not flown (tried) it yet. Feel that I have been flying the Atom & Whippet too slow as when I turn they seem to drop in an uncontrollable spiral dive (spin). Have bought a couple of more powerful motors. I will succeed one of these days! Edited By Bob Bertram on 12/02/2020 20:57:42 Edited By Bob Bertram on 12/02/2020 20:58:34

Need AA cells - best source for non-fake Eneloops?
Bob Bertram replied to Tony Smith 7's topic in Batteries and Chargers
I use 7dayshop and have never had a problem with quality or delivery, I bought some of their batteries the week before last. Have used them for ages. -
Interestingly, someone made a 1/3 scale model of the glider version **LINK**
