  1. you can have this month free, but i still have the pictures
  2. dont let them get you down Rob, this is the only club in the area that spreads their welcome to other clubs to come and fly at their site more than once a year, and you have sorted some GREAT events, if others are full of critic, then let THEM do something in their club, you made the call, it was the right call, you should be holding your head up high, i am one of yur club mates, and feel proud to tell others what you have tried to do, after the last 2 atempts, it would have been dead easy to just forget it, but you tenaciously battled on, i personally think you deserve a slap on the back, and three cheers, heres to the next time,
  3. just checking, we get quite a few that did not get beyond basic learner stage, they generally try to bite off more than they could chew, no problems with you though!!! things have changed a bit in 30 years, but 2 of the planes you mention are still here,
  4. Bury metro have a thread in the clubs thread on here, on there, you will find the chairman, Warren, the club sec, Pegleg Dave. and the events sec, Robert Tomlin, you will also find a few members posting on there, waste of time me meeting you, i have a busy 2 weeks ahead with weddings and things,
  5. Quite reasonable, you dont know the standard of the flyer, i would not expect our club to allow a visitor unsupervised, and i would not care if he was Ali Machinsky, we welcome visitors, and would allow more than 3 flights if he was a visitor, but if he was local, after 3 flights, an exchange of sheckles would be expected
  6. its got to be a typo, both spars are not home in the wing slots, the front spar also has a gap under it, get the side view, draw a line under the high spots at the front and rear of the rib, then measure up to the front and back spar, cut packing pieces, and put the spars on the top of these, then put the ribs on and glue with aliphatic glue, put the rib over the side view first, and chck all is the same, just a mention about these vintage models, they have undercambered high lift sections, and over the top wing incidence, they where designed in an age when there was not radio, they were intended to spiral up, cut the engine, and glide down in a circle, the increased wing incidence would enable them to get up there fast, and come down slowly i would have NO hesitation in altering both the wing shape, and the incidence, but deffo the incidence,
  7. i get your point big fella, but its done now, apologies have been made, its time to move on, innit? dont pillory the club for one event going wrong, when so many have gone right, its like writing a restraunt off for one bad meal, come and sample the rest of the menue, its very good,
  8. we flew one years ago, it had a FLAT wing, the ailerons where about 4-6inch long, and where ADDED to the trailing egde, looked wierd, it flew as a super 60 should do, but when it turned on input from the ailerons, it seemed to stop, pivot round the CG, and set off again, it was great fun, power was an ancient OS40 Max H
  9. Well Andy next year, you can always go to the other speed events, oh, there isnt any, is there? guess its down to Bury to do it again then, lessons learned, move forward,
  10. make it yourself, plenty of info out there, here is an example **LINK**
  11. i agree, but its a matter of fact that when we dont go power flying cos its too windy, we go slope flying, go figure
  12. if its a one off, vice, hide mallet, some hard wood blocks, and a pattern to work from, if you are going to do this quite often, then the mighty wire bender, from K&S, i have the slec one, but i dont think its available now
  13. its says rain or shine, it doesnt mention wind, and that, is here in plenty Edited By Alan Cantwell on 30/09/2012 14:34:50

  16. No John, its many years since the guys where on field keeping her in ground running trim, i dont even know if he is alive, BUT, i will find out, i have an idea that some of the old crew might just like to get their hands on her again,
  17. Thanks very much guys, but for the moment, i have ditched 9, and gone back to 8, but i will use the above help when i have to go to 9
  18. i have about 20 warbirds in kit form, and flying, ranging from a 36inch corsair, to a 88inch corsair, with P47s, spitfires, ME 109, FW 190, mustangs, and a few more in between, i am an admirer of the YT series, and have several, the site at bury is great, the guys are great, but the wind direction has t be right for some of the brids, seeing as one end ends in 12 foot of rough grass, to stop an errant model, and then a barbed wire fence!! no trouble usually, and i intend taking the zenoah 62 powered corsair down there, as soon as i have flown it, and tamed it, off woodfords runway if you want to go see the site, let me know, and i will sort it for you, i will get one of the guys to meet up with you, i wont be down for the next 2 weeks, its sons wedding prep time Edited By Alan Cantwell on 30/09/2012 11:25:48
  19. Steve, at Bob Hobbies, will help the brit buyer with the duty thing if its possible, alien to some, but he is a naturlised american, so it does not matter to him, i would NEVER do it, of course,
  20. and the flyby with the vampire was superb, then an Anson, in full military? i am with you, i want to move to NZ!!!!!
  21. Garbo, thanks very very much, i was going to give a humerous reply, but the last time i saw this aircraft in an angled low bank, was back in the 90s, on a very sad day, i now have a tear in my eye, did you notice, in airshows, despite whats in the air, there will always be folk that dont even look up, look at the crowd, everyone is stopped, gazing up, shes back, and long may she fly!!!
  22. Thanks Ken, where the heck do i find IE details for the check boxes? i have just been into my computer, no idea
