  1. Posted by cymaz on 07/04/2012 19:32:00: Couldn't fly today because it was too windy for the parasol wing. Though I did check the lateral balance and had to add 60g to the starboard wing. This seems to make sence to me so far. Lots of right trim as the plane is flying port wing down- the light wing. If the port wing is flying down it must be heavier and adding weight to th estarbord wing has brought things into balance. John
  2. Quite an interesting cross section of reaction to my original post. When I first phoned to explain where I was going at the time I did not try to avoid the fact that I had albeit unknowingly at the time broken the speed limit. In their final letter to me,the letter finished "It is imperative that drivers make every effort to increase road safety and reduce the number of fatal and serious accidents, and you are reminded of the dangers involved in failing to comply with traffic regulations" So I actually ended up with a metaphorical wrist slap. I still think our police do a good job under trying circumstances with what seems to be little support from them upstairs. John
  3. I had the same problem a few years ago. Only saw a frame with a red cross which somenoe explained to me meant that the picture had been deleted but left the frame for some reason. John Edited By John Tee on 05/04/2012 19:51:36
  4. I was going to use Gloworm which i have used elsewhere because that was my old CB handle. This came from working in the Gas industry and Glow.-worm are a big boiler manufacturer. Then thought of Biscuits which the new office girl called me because of Tee and B........... Ended up plain old John Tee as I've been that for 63 years. John
  5. We have 2 x Robins that appear from and fly off in different directions. One lands on the patio door handle when he sees movement indoors. Various tamish Blackbirds, flocks of sparrows and Starlings one of which is also quite tame. Never used to take too much notice of them 'til I got married and Brenda started feeding them. Now we have a morning "bird report". John
  6. The letters came from the Safety Camera Partnership but the letter was headed Surrey Police. John
  7. At 4.00am Sunday 26th Feb, my Father in law was admitted to St Georges hospital in Tooting after a heart attack. On the way to see him with my wife, in the pitch black at 5.30 am I was flashed by a speed camera. On the following Thursday I got the letter saying they were considering a prosecution. When I phoned to explain the circumstances I admitted I couldn't deny the offence and was asked to put it in writing for consideration. I sent in his discharge papers with details of admission and treatment. Tuesday this week I recieved a letter saying that they were not taking any further action ( many thanks). I'm pleased to say that after a quad bypass and ten days in hospital Dad is back home and recovering very well (he is 81 years old). Just shows that despite what you hear about the authorities they do consider matters when given a reasonable explanation. for the record I was doing 38mph in a 30 zone, not a massive offence but still wrong, John
  8. Slight miscalculation Frank - centre section 2 x 31 inches. 66 inches is total span. other wise seems ok. John  on second thoughts 2 x 31 centre section plus 2 x 17.5 tips doesn't equal 66. Forget that I misread centre section measurement wrong Edited By John Tee on 14/03/2012 16:20:26 Edited By John Tee on 14/03/2012 16:21:31
  9. Should be prop driver, prop with size marking to the front, washer (chamfer to front) and then the nut John

  13. I know what Chris means but am cursed with a mind that takes what I Iread literally. Two motors from one ESC in two models? should be fun flying them /   John
  14. I think they were renamed RMX unless that is a ripmax brand motor   John
  15. I have 3 MDS 40's,all ok with me.   John
  16. As an aside but possibly related subject, I am a British Gas trained man called variously over the years a fitter, engineer, service technician (1963-96). Left BG and with other engineers set up a commercial/industrial company which at he time was the largest in its class until retirement in 2009. After 45 years I am now deemed not competent to service my own gas boiler as I am not Gas Safe registered (sucessors to Corgi). All my qualifications count for nothing as I am retired.   Now off to to do my new job and move my father in law into his new bungalow.   John
  17. First I heard of Groupon was last week on the local radio when 2 businesses were complaining that they had had a run on people claiming discounts and that they were losing too much money. One , a greengrocer was having to give up to 75% discounts which as everyone was claiming at the same time was nearly putting him out of business. The other was a restraunt with a similar story, so good for us but not for some companies.   John
  18. I can only speak from my experience. I've had the Topgun Parkflite Cessna and it has been a very successful model and a bargain at the £65 pounds I paid at SMC some two years ago. Flies beautifully and handle windy conditions very well for a small foamy model. No problems withe the radio either - can be changed mode 1 -2 with a few screw removals and refit. I think yours must have been a rogue model. You say you bought it on Ebay - was that new or used?   John  Edited By John Tee on 02/02/2012 16:24:41
  19. Hi Flyboy 3. if you hover your mouse over the en d of the address box (by the X) you will get a double headed arrow and be able to stretch the box to the right and see the whole address including the page number. I only just found this as I didn't get the page number either. not sure if it stays that way when you shut down as I havn't try it yet.   John
  20. I have no degrees only trade qualifications in the gas industry - domestic, commercial and light industrial. I have met and worked with quite a few with formal qualifications who didn't appear to have any common sense or practical apptitude at all. Many people can make a good life from being practical with the right attitude to work without formal qualifications but I'm sure they cerainly open doors in the right circles.   john
  21. Lee - Like Tom T I must stick up for the mk2 Tiger trainer. I've had 2 since I got back into flying in '98. It is strong, stable and has a wide range of stable flying speeds. Made of wood with a plastic top deck. Not sure where the "plastic pig" bit comes from unless the mk3 is indeed plastic as I've not seen one on the field. Even with the much maligned MDS 40 engine never had any problems. I still fly both models even now.   John
  22. I found the Blade CX2 contra rotating heli just like the real model. I also recently bought the Eflite 4site micro indoor model, but not got it set up correctly due either to a cg or thrust line problem as it stands on its tail as soon as it takes off. The one on pheonix flies as I would expect. I am in the process of building an Hirobo Sceadu 50 heli but not ready to fly it yet. I've tried it on Pheonix and it is not as difficult to control as I expected sensitive but managable. Not tried playing with the wind settings yet only out of the box settings.   John
  23. Fair enough. I tend to fly higher than others in our club where one wouldn't be seen easily. Just that I have seen quite a few reviews where the only criticism has been - no pilot, it bugs me as much as those who moan about it being missing   John
  24. This has been mentioned before I'm sure but can't find anything under pilots in the search box. I get really annoyed when reading reviews of kits in any of the mags that the only fault/criticism is the lack of a pilot figure in the kit. I would think that most builders of scale/ish models would want their own choice of figure to go in their model. Pilot figures are required for scale effect in static shows but the vast majority unless my eyesight is really bad can't be seen once the model is in the air. I have to defend my self as I fly mainly sport and pilotless models so I don't have the problem. It seems a bit petty to mark down a reasonable review for such a small omission. Perhaps I'm trying to "out Grumpy " Myron Beaumont.   John
