  1. For years I have used UHU Por for my indoor EPP Shockie style models. The Por joints on the oldest models are turning yellow and becoming brittle. This aging effect happens slowly over several years and I suspect many models will not survive long enough for it to be a problem but some of my models are well over 5 years old. It will be interesting to see if Foam2Foam is better in this respect.
  2. Posted by Andy Symons - BMFA on 12/12/2018 09:29:34: we are looking in to this. Could someone who isn't seeing and points try viewing in incognito mode to see if that helps. I have a feeling this could be a browser settings/add ons issue. I tried with Chrome in incognito mode but still no clubs found. My OS is W10 1803
  3. Still not working here but maybe hasn't propagated through network yet
  4. Is it just me but the BMFA club finder doesn't seem to find any clubs at the moment even putting a large radius around the TW11 area
  5. For years I have been using Sundeala Board and always found it ideal, it has just the right composition for pins to go into and has enough firmness to hold them in place. I bought various offcuts from a local hardware shop a long time ago. Looking online it does now appear to be rather expensive
  6. This technology is old hat, flying saucers have been using it for years
  7. Back around 1970 I had just started the Super Tigre 60 in my Taurus and the engine was idling. As I started to walk around model to get behind it and prepare for take off the Top Flite 12x6 prop shed a blade which hit me in the face just below the eye. I was lucky that day, another couple of cm higher doesn't bear thinking about. Never assume a prop will not fail, avoid standing alongside a running engine.
  8. Take a look at Picasim for Android and Windows PC's. It does have a strong bias towards gliders and slope soaring in particular but there are some fixed wing aircraft and even control line! The flight dynamics are superb and best of all is the price, it's free or (as I did) make a donation if you like it.
  9. Interesting, the last snapshot taken by the Wayback machine was 30/8/18 and it looks as usual then so this change is recent and without any announcement that I am aware of.
  10. I have Picasim on my PC and find the flight dynamics to be very realistic. Much better IMHO than Phoenix. A superb sim for slope soaring, I was sufficiently impressed to make a donation.
  11. Fuse wire as used in the old type fuse boxes is an old favourite. Still available from lots of ebay sellers.

  13. Many years ago I helped run a folk club in Twickenham. One evening Rick Wakeman turned up as an ordinary punter,he was very unassuming and made no attempt to draw attention to himself. That impressed me, seemed like a nice bloke.
  14. My oldest electric model is a Voltaire from a 1979 Radio Modeller. It's awaiting an upgrade from brushed motor and NiCads to brushless and LiPo
  15. The thin plastic bags that jackets/suits etc come back from the dry cleaners in
  16. I had exactly the same thing happen to a Waypoint 2 series motor a few years ago. I ran a few tests on it then put it away pending a suitable project. It was stored indoors in a warm dry location but when I got it out some time later it was stiff and the magnets looked just like your motor. In my case I just binned it. I also have a 3 series Waypoint motor from the same era and that is still fine.
  17. Kings Lynn Models list one:- http://www.kingslynnmodelshop.co.uk/Accessories_Field%20Accessories/c21_142/p8986/JP_MicroTacho_Tachometer_(Pocket_Size)/product_info.html
  18. You are no more than 30 mins drive from the Surrey Radio Control Club near Faygate. Nice flying site at a very pleasant location. http://surreyrcc.bmfa.org/
  19. I agree with Keith, a fully charged cell is around 4.2V so a three cell pack will be around 12,6V immediately after charging but this will quickly drop back to the sort of level you are seeing. I would check what the individual cells read on your tester to make sure they are reasonably well balanced.
  20. This link might help:- https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=725757
  21. I've got a Riot on 2.4GHz but I can't see any reason why 35MHz would be a problem, especially bearing in mind it uses a brushless motor. Obviously do an aerial down range check with the motor running.
  22. I have been using UHU Por on my indoor models for several years and am now beginning to see a problem. Over a period of years it starts to turn brown and become brittle.
