  1. I agree with you Mr Miller I was told that many years ago by a shrink that the Media as a whole good news does sell Newspapers only bad.
  2. Typical media rubbish . I sincerely hope that the BMFA post some response to this rubbish. Perhaps this so called reporter should try what we modellers do go down to a flying field on a cold frosty day or a sodden one .Whatever this is just as I would expect the lying media to respond My opinion only. 3. To all the staff and Editor of RCM&E and all those that post ,advise ,contribute to keep this forum alive and what it is. I wish you all a Merry ,safe and Brilliant Christmas..Cheers.
  4. Wife and myself went to see him at The Spa Bridlington last August .Five hour show, amazing man . No dirt no smut a brilliant Show .God bless you Sir Ken a true Showman.
  5. This is great to see at long last Our Wonderful Hobby getting the positive showing it deserves. Well done to all the BMFA for trying to get our Hobby the recognition it richly needs. In my opinion any coverage by the mass media only covers the Negative side of Aeromodelling i.e. models crashing ,bad landings along with stupid Music shows Aeromodelling bad press. Once again thanks BMFA.
  6. Hi Martyn K. I was very alarmed by Davids last sentence I sincerely that was a cryptic warning of things to come. Did anyone else pick up on this as well?Come on Ed if there is something in the wind like Traplet surely subscribers should know .My opinion only and know malice intended to you or your staff.
  7. Can anyone please help me. I am building a Mick Reeves Hurricane 80 inch w/s. However I am puzzeled by the placement of No 1 fuel tank . No 2 The fitting of the plastic part underneath .No 3 The placement of the One 64 inch ply wing fairings. The kit came with the usual instruction sheet that was typical of Mick Reeves kits of the time. If anyone has any tips or photos of there build anything would be welcome. Thanks.
  8. All Boddos designs always flew well. He was a groundbraker for a lot of us old modellers. Bless him.
  9. How about some simple articles about electric power but in easy to understand terms . Try and do them a bit like the late Great David Boddington used to do in his articles many years ago in the RCM&E. His were easy and to the point to follow. Explaned in lay mans terms . I know many of us older Modellers owe our flying to the great Boddo simply because his articles were done in simple lay mans English.. Thanks.
  10. Hi Lindsey. I well remember back in the dim and distant past that The Aeromodeller did a very good article covering the FRED. It was around if my memory serves me correctly in or around 68 -70 what months escapes me . They did show scale drawings as far as I can remember. It might be worth contacting the publiciation and see if they still have access to the archive. Or some oldie like myself might remember the article. Good luck with it Cheers for now. Sean Tracey.
  11. Hi Colin .Like your dope and silk job ,if I may be so bold as to ask you where you obtained silk. My reason for asking you is I am starting to build some Vintage American models that are supposed to be covered in dope and silk and as I like to have everything as near to original as possible I really need some silk.. Kind regards Sean Tracey.
  12. Hi Tony. The posting I put up is a personal thing maybe I have been lucky . As I said I only put one drop of oil on the thing so far it has not given me any problems with .dirt etc as some of the other posters have said. Like I said it is a personal choice whatever works best for each person. Given the lubricant that I use is a silicone based and I use no more than one drop whatever I would the snake for binding. Good Luck.
  13. Hi Tony. On a personal note I am using a silicone based lubricant. I found a really good product in my local Aldi store a while ago this was like a pen with a little metal point and when the pen is pressed on a certain point it dispences one drop at a time . What I tend to do is to remove the inner and drop one deop of the fluid into thefixed one insert the inner one and work it up and down . This works for me .
  14. Some things get better with age. Thanks John for still being so funny even after 40 years. I have the whole Fawlty Towers collection. Modern day so called comics cant hold a candle to you. Thanks for the belly laughs.
  15. I normally soak sheet balsa to form it around curves , I notice some people talking about ammonia to bend . Can I buy this in any Chemist ,is there a brand name or brand product? What size ,? Do I dilute it down ?. Thanks I really need some help with this.
