    I used the same method as outrunner with the Mylar (30 microns) on many a control line stunt model but finished with wet lightweight tissue doped on with 50/50 shrinking dope/thinners. ASI remember it it only took two or three coats in total before ready for painting. Very puncture resistant and light. Dont see why same system would not work with silk. I only covered the open structures with the Mylar.

    Get an Anet a8 from Gearbest. £130 or thereabouts delivered and print a whole plane with the help of Labprint.

    Bob. They all count, I started with airfix models then rubber powered then an Ed bee powered control line Champ flying with terylene line off of the local cricket pitch. What a pig the engine seemed at that time to start. Weren’t very popular with the park keeper, but we could run faster than him.

    Thank Trevor. Tailplane getting there. Must say the drawing is not very accurate so had to make a fair bit of adjustment to the pieces but just waiting for the balsa cement to harden off. May put in a few extra gussets in the corners to stiffen it up . Photo to follow.

    There are plenty on ebay. I also had one of these with a tuned pipe in a rc model way back. What a motor, shed loads of power on tap instantly. Never missed a beat. Have now gone over to the dark side(electric)

    Cannot believe it has been over a year since I have done any work on the Mossie. Have built 1 and a 1/2 3d models in between but that is no excuse. As it has been so long I thought I would start on a new part the tailplane. Looks a bit flimsy but time will tell. All parts photo copied and stuck to the appropriate balsa sheets for cutting out. Enthusiasm is enthusiasm is still a bit lacking but am getting there. Plan is taped to board and candle waxed up.

    Bob Balsa glue belongs to the past?! Wash your mouth out with soap and water. The biggest tube of uhu hart in the blue tube you can get, loverly. Another vote for Poundland ca too for a quick build. Robin

    I have a Gangster lite and have fitted the steering front wheel. A Pita to fit and keep working cleanly. If I were making another one I would not bother. Robin

    I use the Poundland own brand cyano. 7 x 10g tubes for a £1. Great stuff. On another tack their oven cleaner is just as good if not better than the supermarket version which is over 5 times the cost.

    I just rub a candle over the plan. Nothing sticks to a waxy surface.

    Martian Get yourself a glass bed and use a craft water based pva on the bed before printing. Dribble some on and use a wet finger to spread it out. There are many methods used including nothing, hair spray, pritt stick, etc etc but in my experience the above is the best. If you have difficulty in removing the item after printing just dribble some water around the item and leave for a few minutes or longer and it will fall off. Make sure the pva is of the water soluble type. Robin

    Learnt to fly on one of these, way back in the 70’s . Built like a tank and no matter how many times you crashed it and repaired it, it still flew, like a brick but still flew. Fond memories.
