  1. You looked at the waveforms... ?  You just have a very enquiring mind !   GG
  2. GWS glue is fine on the foam if you use it as a contact adhesive. Otherwise, you'll be waiting days for it to dry. Haven't built their Wolfy so don't know what the epoxy/cyano is for..... sorry. GG
  3. Had a few more flights now so here's some extra info.  I added some light balsa triangular stock to the undercarriage mounts and it seems better. But then again, I'm getting used to doing three pointers with it - biggest problem is remembering not to fly until the batteries are run down.  I also had to bind one of the legs with carbon tows and cyano as it split/delaminated.  Not added the one piece u/c so far ............... Rolls are beautifully axial.  It'll loop practically in it's  own length. Rudder is very very powerful. Quite a lot of 'diving' to the undercarriage in knife edge. Because of the undercarriage problems......... the underneath of the fus is now less than pristine,  my left bottom wing has a slightly crushed leading edge where the u/c leg has whacked it, I've added a few stickers to cover the puncture holes made by the u/c whacking the wing, I've added a great big Model Flyer sticker to the fus to hide the hole I needed to make to be able to beef up the u/c mount.  All in all, slightly less than pristine !  Still flies very very well though!
  4. I used an AXI 2820/10 in mine - good performance.  If I were still flying it, I'd buy a cheapy equivalent off somewhere like GiantCod, for far less than the AXI though. GG
  5. New one ?  Do you mean the ARTF trainer ?  Completely different kettle of fish .................... Not sure about a Wot 4 as a first plane - good second one though.  GG
  6. Hi Nigel,  nice to 'see'  you on this forum.  I was a bit surprised at this one - all your other designs tend to look more like full scale machines !  I've no doubt I'll get around to one though - I have had several of the others.  Still have one of the little Speed 400 Tucanos........................   GG
  7. Per Shaun's mail...... BRC Hobbies - very good Giant Cod - excellent Budget R/C good - patchy Model Fixings - excellent Just Engines - fantastic ! Al's Hobbies - very good  Avicraft - very good, very helpful (must finish that Mini Panic...) Midland Helis - very good Motors and rotors - very good Sussex Model Centre - great range but delivery a little slow Model Shop Leeds - excellent
  8. Undercarriage definitely seems to be the probnlem area on ARFs now  - in the last 12 months I've had problems with a Fliton Rogue, Mini Funtana and a TT Giles 202.  All of them have had their beautiful covering damaged/hacked at as a result. Can't fault the Mini Ultra Stick though - nice solid metal well bolted to an integral part of the fuselage. GG
  9. Grumble grumble - more stuff for new subscribers only ...................
  10. I've normally had next day service (or at worst the day after) from Giant Cod so hopefully a short wait ............... GG
  11. My DX6i was £95 from my LMS + £5 p&p.  Bargain.  I haven't experienced a single glitch in about 100 flights now ................. still think the case is too big for little hands though GG
  12. Cheers Simon, I'll give it a whirl.  Any idea what the Allen bolt on top of the carb is for ? GG
  13. I need some very basic advice ................ I have a JEN '57 which, whilst very powerful, does not pick up from idle at all well.  I'd like to fix this but I'm not sure where to start ................ and I'm too impatient to wait for a club 'expert' I think there are three 'controls': 1) Main needle - I have set this so the engine gives just shy of max revs at full throttle.  This seems OK 2) Allen bolt in top of carb - I have no idea what this does ............. 3) A screw in the carb barrel (horizontally 'along' the needle, by the throttle arm) - ditto. As I say, it runs fine at ful throttle (pulling my SIG Ultimate Fun Fly vertically quite easily), and idles away merrily - albeit a bit fast.  On opening the throttle, it splutters, then burbles a few times before gradually getting up to full revs - takes between 1 and 3 seconds and produces a lot of smoke whilst doing this.  It's second hand so between me and the previous owner(s), I reckon we've meddled with the latter two things .................. I could contact Just Engines but I tiught I'd try here first. Cheers, GG
  14. Watch out for tjhe noise on a wing though - some can be very noisy.  Depends on the 'park'  I suppose .................... Not sure how aerobatic the EStarter is. I've had a lot of the GWS foamies - all have been fun but I upgraded them all to Lipo and brushless.  Tough for a foamy too - no doubt the Alfa model and the Sea Fury are closer to scale but I'm not sure they'd be as tough. I guess it depends what you really want the model to be able to do.   GG
  15. I thought Sanwa sets were sold as Airtronics in the US and now the Airtronics name is universal.  Could be wrong of course - I often am ! GG
  16. Mini Ultra Stick - ugly b****r but flies beautifully and can handle a bit of wind  GG
  17. I have a Mini Ultra Stik - excellent little plane.  Does pretty much everything from pottering to some pretty wild aerobartics - not really 3D though.  And lands at walking pace evebn without using the flaps option.  Mine has a Typhoon 6/15, 3S 1800 Lipos and an 8x4 - doesn't go vertical for long but powered 'adequately'. Not an overly pretty plane but I can't criticise anyting apart from that - well built, well covered, excellent manners.  Highly recommended. GG
  18. Don't have any choice with the Ripmax Spitty .........................  GG
  19. I sort of learnt to fly on my own.  Built a series of single channel, two channel and three channel jobbies and eventually managed to keep something in the air for what may loosely count as 'flying' - and almost under control ! When I learnt to drive and managed to afford a car, I joined a slope soaring club (on the Gower Peninsular in South Wales - gorgeous!) and got taught properly.  Heaps of difference between my 'keeping things in the air' and flying with a fair degree of control. I guess it's easier nowadays as pretty much all the ARF's or RTF's will be built straight and true and balanced properly so the absolute beginner has a fair chance of success. Still think joining a club and being taught properly is a better bet.  If nothing else, you'll learn about flying field safety and etiquette..........  GG
  20. £43 at Leeds Model Shop ....................... I couldn't buy the materials for that. GG
