Can't we have a rational debate without resorting to insults and name calling? This isn't the RC Groups forum.......

Changing the throttle input value from 100%.... I'm sure someone mentioned this to me in the dim and distant past......trial and error I'm afraid
-
Looking forward to this one......

Don' worry about the tape holding it together - they've been doing that ever since they brought out the first ones many moons ago. DO NOT GLUE IT. But hopefully you do have some suitable glue for the inevitable whoopsie. That space is plenty big enough for that plane in the right conditions, when you have a little more experience (so you avoid flyaways, dog walkers etc. - my local park stopped becoming usable at around 6:30 a.m.....) If you go to the club at the weekend, also take this, and the instructions. Typically they fly 'out of the box' but someone more experienced, who can read instructions, can help you check it out.

Gosh too, that's disappointing.......

I'm not a Spektrum expert, but think you can using a special cable and some software to set the gains to zero.

AS3X and SAFE. AS3X smooths out unwanted aircraft movement due to, for example, wind. Will allow you to fly in higher wind than you'd expect but as it's tiny, upwind flying will be sloooooowwwwww. Makes you look a better flier 🙂 SAFE limits the aircrafts response to intended control inputs, often 3 rates. E.g. position 1 limits the plane to 30 degrees of bank, climb/dive; position 2 limits it to 60 degrees; position 3 allows full movement. Possibly also a 'panic' switch that will put the aircraft into straight and level if you get in a pickle. Personally, I hate SAFE and would recommend ditching it as soon as you are comfortable - other people love it....

Jon is a very active member on here so I suspect he's aware.....

All perfectly valid and sensible points toto! Keep your pecker up - hopefully you'll soon be free of the shackles of instruction, and (literally) have the freedom to fly whenever you want.....
-
I agree with you 100% Matty........... I also expressed my concern.
-
Or.... just accept that they are different and enjoy the variety 🙂

That's quite a substantial plane! Have you tried AliExpress or Banggood for parts? I've bought dozens of times from each with no issues.... delivery times are usually pretty good, as are prices. Stock available seems to change daily.....
-
Well, I was not expecting THAT! Very very very happy.

I almost feel sorry for the aussies.....
-
This is when I get nervous for my boys........ against the aussies, we always seem to regret something 😞 (irritated at arms being raised like petulant schoolboys in the hope of influencing the ref; liked that Barnes told Jac to have a word with the team about chatting to the ref. I really AM a Grumpygnome!)

They do also sell the 1.5m version but that's much more expensive. The suggested Riot is about the same size but osts about the same as you baby TT. Although AS3X (gyro stability) is good, you'll be a little restricted by winds as it's very small and light ..... but when learning, you would anyway! Also, you'll need to keep it close.... Try not to get too hooked on SAFE (bank/attitude limiting). At least as it's current, and EFlite sell loads of them, you should be able to get spares.

@toto do you have the Beaver 2000mm V2?
-
@totoNot sure about Scotland, but lots of areas in England have bye-laws which specifically exclude flying models ...... best check before you try. Have you bought the umx TT? £220 for he plane plus batteries etc, is VERY cheap.....

And if you don't like a rule, raise it at the AGM. But then abide by the democratic process....... To be honest, I think the rule in question is quite sensible given where toto is on the learning curve. Learning how to safely operate equipment that could cause a nasty injury is as important as learning to fly, and needs to be taught. Possibly less dangerous with electric, but safety measures still need to be taught. An electric foamy has been discussed previously - seems a shame to spend another few hundred pounds when it'll still not result necessarily in more air time as toto will still need company and instruction. Although there are more potential instructors for leccy flight at the club I believe. Toto is already assembling a leccy plane, although that's built up. If a foamy leccy is needed, I'd agree with the Riot. Nice and docile to learn, then max out the throws and remove the nose weight for more fun!

Yes, I agree a range check wouldn't highlight any buddying issues. But to not do a range check on a plane which has, in effect, a new radio seems a little irresponsible of the instructor. Especially given the history. I also agree with not trying the engine on ones own when you're unfamiliar with it. We probably all did it as kids, but not with modern powerful 7.5cc engines I suspect. Certainly, the biggest I had before joining a club was about 1.5cc (can still cause nasty injuries, but less nasty I think). I'm surprised anyone suggests stopping an engine by throwing a rag in the prop........ Keep persevering @toto. This very steep learning curve will soon start to flatten out.

Great game.
