  1. **LINK** Its on BBC Website now " believed to be a drone " be worth waiting for confirmation on this
  2. I have one of these , Imax charger from Hobbyking note that its the genuine Imax charger and a few pounds more than the copy on the same page of the chargers on the hobbyking website . What I find less than helpful is that generally you need to buy a seperate power supply for chargers ( this one is no exception ) so bear this in mind . I notice that the PSU paired by Hobbyking with this charger is out of stock UK warehouse at the moment For ease try and choose a charger that has output leads that match the plug on the battery you have
  3. Wow no flying for months and two days in a row ! Forecast rain in morning incorrect so had an hour to spare to get the Axiom Delta out which certainly blew any remaining cobwebs away . Followed by a test of the Alien frame mutirotor
  4. First time fixed wing flying for months , indeed , the first this year , nice to get the thumbs working again Kept an eye on the weather , rained last night and the wind was forecast to be higher than is comfy , but wind didn't pick up until flight 3 and the ground wasn't too soggy , so the 2016 season begins at last !
  5. The break is deeper inside and its isn't really an option to delve into the wiring too deeply. If it was a break further out or at the connector then that would be different.
  6. Just getting my batteries charged ,for quickness using an @Imax charger and a cheaper LE-3 balance charger Something to watch out for when using the cheaper type charger that charges through the balance lead , if one of the balance lead wires becomes detached from the battery , the charger may overcharge the battery and not terninate I noticed that the green LED that indicates charging was not slowing down , which it normally does when nearing full charge and seemed to have been flashing at the same rate for some time . I took it off charge and checked it on a battery checker which reported over-voltage , which the Imax charger corroborated . Battery checker also reported 2 cells - its a 3 cell High Energy Extreme battery so I had a closer look at the balance lead and noticed the yellow wire had detached from inside the pack Currently discharging the battery through the XT60 connector after running it on a model for a five minutes to get the discharge on the go . The battery hasn't puffed up but I am glad I monitor charging batteries as a non-terminating charger would seem to be undesirable to understate the obvious The battery is destined for the recycling centre once discharged
  7. Maybe soon we can ditch those batteries ! BBC article
  8. There is the rub , I am interested in very few other sports
  9. I see from 2019 Sky will have exclusive rights to F1 James Allen makes some interesting observations on his website One of the standout observations is the price an F1 fan will need to pay to see coverage in the UK according to him For me this kills my interest , just like the Ryder Cup Exclusive deal did that in for me - lost all interest in what was a great tournament . So goodbye F1 , its been a long relationship
  10. I'm a Southern Softy , temperature still too cold for my fingers !
  11. BBC News website To my mind the danger from Lasers exceeds the kerfuffle about ' Drones' , looks like Pilots may agree
  12. Was in 2384 Bushey and Oxhey Squadron back in the early 70's Great experience and great memories , but disliked the uncomfortable uniform , collar studs for goodness sake !

Get away from MY Babs you................ I think Robert Powell the actor might have something to say about that !
  14. How practical would a specific 'UAV' registration system be to administer ? Multiple models owned by a single person , and the ability to swap parts around and within a short time and have a different 'UAV' would entail quite an admin burden Perhaps a little more practical would be registration of the owner, and an obligation to have an identifying mark somewhere on aircraft flown by that person . Compulsory Insurance for the owner etc. No purchasing 'UAV's without proof of registration / Insurance . Not that I am particularly in favor of a compulsory registration system, seems there are already Laws covering misuse of 'UAV's Are birds going to have to be registered too ? seems bird strikes are an ever present danger but I guess registration of Birds ain't going to happen. Another big issue in Aircraft safety is the deliberate and malicious use of Lasers to blind/dazzle Pilots . This is a major issue and we don't seem to  hear a great deal about this , perhaps for good reason , don't want to give idiots ideas . Edited By Bravo Delta on 30/01/2016 00:14:13
  15. If its any help I have Open pilot running on two Windows 7 professional PC's , one a laptop and one a desktop , however my Asus netbook with windows 7 starter doesn't run open pilot
  16. Posted by ASH. on 10/01/2016 16:19:27: Are we still droning on.. The reason why they would be boring is because not much time, effort or emotional investment is made to get them flying.. rather like plug &play or any other toy bought off the shelf. They appeal to same people who are in awe of the lastest tech gizmo. The satisfaction is very short lived! As with fixed wing , there is a spectrum of multirotor build that runs from RTF down to complete self build from scratch . My first multirotor was an RTF Hubsan X4 , ,rebuilds and repainting to my own scheme gave a degree of emotional investment I think Subsequent larger , non RTF / ARTF builds have followed
  17. A venture out to the club field last Bank holiday Monday to test fly larger props on a 500 Alien multirotor has been the only trip for months due to weather . Pit area waterlogged so we need a nice period of sunny warm weather - that isn't happening until Spring/Summer I guess
  18. Thanks for the heads up , just watched it , very interesting
  19. I would go to one of my Electrics first......I have no choice , I have no IC Aircraft , though I do love seeing / hearing IC Engined Aircraft fly
  20. What a great day for a November day ! Forecast Fog did not arrive locally so a wonderfully bright sunny morning. Relaxed flying with the Wot4 Foamie I haven't flown for nearly a year, and some more aggressive exploratory throwing around of a 330 multirotor with its new lights on.
  21. At work heard the Goodwood to North Weald flight in the Distance and caught a brief glimpse through a gap in trees of one of the formation and that was it .
  22. Sally B 6:00 PM-ish Hemel Hempstead ,in Father-In Laws Kitchen and you know by the sound to get outside and see what it is . Looks like it was flying Home in the direction of Duxford
