  1. The first model with a wingspan of 47 inches would make it a Mini Super.
  2. Got the May issue-still not received the April issue!!!!!. A nice lady in subscriptions has promised to send it soon........
  3. Any of the mugs, but if i'm too late then i'll have the desk!!
  4. Received mine also. Is it early this month?Looks good though.
  5. My main building board is 25mm Mdf with Forbo Nairn desktop linoleum-glued on both sides to help prevent bowing. I also have a couple of smaller 12mm thick birch ply boards covered with 9mm Sundeala for smaller models. Working for 30 years in the joinery and furniture trade I have "collected"various 8 foot x 4 foot offcuts!
  6. I managed to watch half of the clip David, painful is the word I would use..................
  7. Very sad. I'm building Mam'selle and Ballerina-Tomboy is next.Great Vic Smeed designs. He designed some very pretty models.Tomboy is next. We are gradually losing the greats of this hobby.    Julian
  8. A good looking model Tim,this is on my "to build"list during my christmas holiday. There's something about those old designs that "do it" for me. All the wood required is in my scrap and offcut box. Good construction images and text in the mag,my son wants to have a go at building it-with dads help.
  9. I had the same problem today but only if i use the link that David put in his post. I went to You Tube to view it and it works fine! If it's the Spitfire that was hanging in the SLEC tent at the Southern Model Airshow it looked superb.
  10. The motor & ESC that Tim has linked to is what is in my Mini Super and it has more than enough power.I have a couple of 2200mAH which give 10 mins +. I built mine from a Ben Buckle kit and it flies fine on rudder and elevator only.I've thought of building an aileron wing. The only thing that i changed was converting to a tail dragger as opposed to the trycycle undercarriage supplied, this was to save weight because it was powered with a speed 600 ,gearbox and ni-cad batteries-how things have changed... I do remember that the quantity of strip wood supplied was insufficient and the supplied cut parts didn't fit those shown on the plan but i just altered them. A friend of mine is currently building their Super Sixty and has the same problems so nothing has changed which is shame because there are a few Ben Buckle kits that are on my to do list. Maybe the plans need a CAD update with laser cut parts, electric coversions etc.I have autocad and a HP Plotter in my workshop....just kidding
  11. I booked in advance a family ticket(2+2)last year which cost £25.To do the same this year will cost £34-an increase of 36%. I do wonder if it's the Hop Farm itself that is charging more-a few years ago i believe the entrance to the show was seperate to the Hop Farm, where as recently you enter via the main entrance-i may be wrong. I think it's a well run show with some top pilots and a big trade area. The weather is always superb so i'll be there this year.   Julian
  12. Nice looking model Bruce,i'll be watching with interest. Vic Smeed designed some superb models in my opinion. Your Mamselle looks a very nice model Stephen,i'm building one myself at the moment. Barrie Dave 2,i think that there is an plan of Popsie on the web showing an electric conversion.
  13. I've got the Innovator. It's been hanging on my sons bedroom ceiling for two years as yet unflown so i can't comment on its flying characteristics. It is well built and and for less than fourty pounds, two years ago, good value for money. LHR Dave,i'll be interested to here how your neighbour gets on with his.
  14. I managed to watch about 15 minutes and then had a nap....................Better than counting sheep.I used to be a fan and remember the wheel to wheel stuff of Mansell,Senna & Prost. This lot might as well use the qualifying times to decide the results as there's a lot more overtaking!!!!!!!!!!!!! The FIA(Ferrari International Assistance)have got it wrong again. It's going to be a looooooooooooooooong season..zzzzzzzzzzzzzz-Still a lot more flying
  15. Built a Bi-stormer,not flown it yet but an enjoyable build. The quality and information on the plan is,in my opinion, first class.
  16. Eric The motor i'm using is a Hi-model 2814-6T(300 watt) from BRC,APC 9x4.5 propellor and 3S lipo. My Mini Super weighs just over 2 pounds so there's plenty of power but thats why we have a throttle. Mine was built from a Ben Buckle kit.
  17. Blue sky and no wind in Kent today. Had a couple of flights with my electric Mini Super then had great fun with my sons West Wings free flight Saphire.Forgot how much fun trimming and flying a rubber powered model was, also watching my sons chasing after it and slowly sinking into the ground as the frozen grass thawed. They were both covered in mud but with huge grins on their faces. One of those rare, perfect days.
  18. To save on postage,if i win i'll collect it........If i don't win then you can post it!!!!!!!!!Edited By julian on 30/01/2010 15:38:42
  19. Another 4 to go. I've aquired a taste for Horlicks and i brag about how much sleep i get..................
  20. Get well soon Boddo, Best wishes.   Julian
  21. Big Bandit, You will enjoy "First Light",one of those difficult to put down books.   There are of lot of books highly recommended from all the posters and i shall be buying a few  i think.   Julian
