  1. T'was a DSM Joker with an OS61 rear exhaust tuned pipe etc. Those were the days! Still have the retracts, the rest wasn't worth a lot after I dug it out of the hole.
  2. Thanks, I'll see if I can get a message to Solarfilm, I don't have the plane or the Solarlac to try yet. Edited By Stuart Z on 26/07/2016 17:07:08
  3. Hi again, If I use Solartrim, will Solarlac paint be OK on the cowling ? Stuart
  4. Thanks guys, All this info is very useful to a novice at leccy stuff Stuart
  5. Hi Following up on this thread, assuming I get a decent leisure battery 75ah or thereabouts How long does a battery take to charge - is it the same as running on the mains at home?? So regardless of battery size. It's a case of only charging what I need when I need it. On the mains my 2250 3S take around 1 hour to charge, would it be the same or longer on 12v.
  6. I bought the Great Planes balancer and am very pleased at how sensitive it is. Thoroughly recommended.
  7. Thanks, I'll give it a try when I get the beastie!
  8. Hi I'm looking to but a foam - Acrowot - I'd like to cover it with something other than the standard stickers. (there are so many the same) what covering works best? Thanks for any help.
  9. Trying again Has anyone thoughts on where I can get a plan for a Cranfield A1. Has anyone got one tucked away?
  10. I agree, great idea, I would go along with that as GBCAA compliant designs, once I've done the Joker in the loft. They are a simple way in to great aerobatic flying.
  11. Sounds like a good deal, I've had the DSM SAPHIR & Joker and still have a Joker (59"inch span) to build. The kit builds easily and the finished job flies well. Mine used an OS 61 pumper and were very capable models. Sadly the pumper is a box of bits at the moment.
  12. Posted by Cuban8 on 15/06/2016 14:47:57: Just a point about Maddingley - it's really not a depressing place I find. The architecture is beautiful and the rows of memorials are stunning, especially on a bright sunny day. Totally agree, an impressive place to visit! Yes it does reflect on sad events, but is inspiring nonetheless.
  13. Hi New at this so please bear with me. I like some of the plans on the "UKCAA Planiography" How do I get them up to full size? Is there a service that does this? Then can I send off the plan to get formers etc laser cut?  Same for foam wings, just send the root and tip aero foil / copy of plan? All very basic to most of you but all my planes to date have come out of boxes with parts already printed or die cut. Thanks guys   Edited By Stuart Z on 03/06/2016 06:15:35
  14. Hats off to them! Fantastic and in the full knowledge of how many souls are on board.
  15. Hi A BT user for many years and been happy with the service. I guess I've been lucky but nothing to really complain about
  16. I used to have a model shop only 12 miles away, as Robert says _ when that is no longer the case you miss it big time. I now do a 100 mile round trip to a model shop every now and again and thoroughly enjoy the experience. And yes, it always involves a fair chunk of money. For the odds and ends, I support a select bunch of shops that I find provide excellent service. So in reality supporting several shops across the sector, but I do enjoy my occasional pilgrimage for face to face advice and buying the big stuff.
  17. The weight of that Screwfix one suggests its not the same as others which are heavier. More cast iron = less vibration. Hi, I agree weight is an issue, lighter can mean less stable and more noise, I have an old Shapersaw which is very very loud, partly as it relies on oscillation / vibration to function. But it is very handy to lift on and off the workbench. So what I think I want is quieter, better cutting depth, ( the Shapersaw is painfully slow when even thin ply is involved). I guess it's all down to a balance of compromises as I read above that I really would benefit from having both, but just don't have the space or the budget. So thanks for all the input it has focussed my mind on what is key for me.
  18. Hi Dave Good call - the SD 1600 looks interesting and relatively light which is a factor as I will have to move off and on the bench due to space issues.
  19. Hi Thanks guys, all very helpful points - I think the scroll saw is going to be the choice for me. I had a quick look at the Clarke ones in Machine Mart, any one use one of these? Thanks again
  20. Hi I've seen various posts on band saws and scroll saws but if you can only have one, limited space or budget, which should you go for ? Welcome your thoughts, btw sorry if already covered.
  21. Hi A new R2006GS for the Moronic I'm about to start!
  22. Good point Chris I am making a come back so newish in some ways - have gone for a Max Power Riot and a Wot 4 Foam E both with 2 rate set ups and half way through building a 4 ch Super 60. None flown yet - waiting for a mentor as I haven' t flown for 20 years. Strange market to come back to, kits seem to have disappeared to a large extent, so much ARTF & RTF. around. Gone for a 2.4 T8J but my original 35meg stuff is serviced and ready and will be in use on future models as I have 2 35 meg Tx's and 3 Rx. S P.S. Not many fly my mode (Mode 1) so it is a slow come back. Looking forward to getting airborne again.
  23. Hi, A Hi-Boy followed by a Super 60. Radio was Digifleet 6 channel with a shared OS 35FP Learnt a lot quicker on the S60 including inverted circuit. Oh but you had to start high up! S
