I would mostly agree with Outrunner on the Ethos/EdgeTX choice. I upgraded my X10S to an X20S this year. I ran FROS on the X10, Open/Edge TX is a hard no for me, I can use it, but don't like it at all. Ethos is easy to use and may be the better choice coming from Futaba. As for the hardware, I love the X20S.

Same for me switches, like to know I get repeatable flap deflections without messing with a pot or slider

Acro / Fun fly / 3D kits for 4 stroke IC.
Richard Wills 2 replied to Tim Donald's topic in All Things Model Flying
Acrowot kit and a Saito 82 goes very well. -
If it wasn't 700 miles round trip, I would have been very interested. Go on Jon, you know you want too.

I have just had 2 of the no.7 nipples delivered from RCJapan, they do not come with washers.

IC engine choice for Hangar 9 Ultra Stick 10cc

FA-125 would be over the top, but 'vertical indefinitely' is just that. -
IC engine choice for Hangar 9 Ultra Stick 10cc
Richard Wills 2 replied to Tim Donald's topic in All Things Model Flying
One in our club with a Thunder Tiger 91 2 stroke, which fits this description. 4 stroke equivalent would probably be the FA-125. -
I would also recommend the Savox 0351. If bigger torque numbers are what you want, the Savox 0352 would be my choice, not needed, but more is better right???

sounds like the 85" 62cc one from the wing area.

Hi one and All. Help with Frsky Taranis X9 lite S please.
Richard Wills 2 replied to David A Sutton's topic in FrSky
you have probably already tried, but how close is your radio to the rx? signal swamping when too close can stop binding esp on D8. try a few feet apart. -
Wot4 Mk3 IC engine recommendations
Richard Wills 2 replied to Tim Donald's topic in Sport, Aerobatic and 3D kits
I haven't found this at all with mine, sure it's heavier, doesn't fly quite as slow, but is still well mannered and lands normally, the trade off for me was well worth it. I wanted a ballistic missile, and a 91 2 stroke does that just fine, all of the fun. -
Bosch PKP 18 E is a good lower priced option

Andy might be worth checking the o ring on the idle needle, I have had a couple of asp 120's and it has been a very loose fit on both and must have been leaking as replacing with a well fitting one improved the idle a bunch as it was actually possible to adjust properly. I also experimented with pro synth a couple of years ago, bought 8 gallons. Ended up giving 7 away, didn't work for me.

Charging Multiple NimH Batteries
Richard Wills 2 replied to Andy J's topic in Batteries and Chargers
mine does a similar thing, I assume it is like the step-differential charge mentioned on the above linked page. It bulk charges until I would expect it to be nearing full, then cuts off periodically for a moment then ramps back up. this repeats and it cuts off usually as it is ramping up after one of the pauses. -
Charging Multiple NimH Batteries
Richard Wills 2 replied to Andy J's topic in Batteries and Chargers
I should hope it would continue to charge at the selected current to the end of the charge, that is what I asked it to do afterall. If the current drops towards the end, you risk a false peak and the battery not being fully charged. I do not consider this to be an overheat issue, rather it is expected, and normal. More than one way to skin a cat, and we all do what we are comfortable with. -
Other than mine was the version with mech retracts, exactly as those, mine was the earlier escale version. can't see any difference other than the retracts. IIRC I ended up at 130mm on the cg
-
I had one until last year with an OS 91 surpass, perfect combination, flew fantastic. The manual cg was extremely nose heavy though, it needed best part of 400g in the nose to balance as per manual and felt horrible. Gradually removed it bit by bit until only 50g remained, and what a sweetie it was then.

Charging Multiple NimH Batteries
Richard Wills 2 replied to Andy J's topic in Batteries and Chargers
It is quite normal for a nimh cell to reach 55 deg C towards the end of a 1c+ fast charge, your calibrated finger will perceive this as red hot. -
My oldest models Precedent Hi boy I learned to fly on in 1995 Kyosho Concept 30 I bought s/h in 1997 which first flew in 1990. Both restored a couple of years ago and fly a few times a year.

5 litres at 50:1 is 98ml of oil 5 litres at 30:1 is 161ml of oil Adding 60 ml will get you to near as needs be 30:1. If it was me I would probably run it as it comes also.

A burning log on your fire is also a deflagration. Gunpowder does not explode unless confined, however slight, in some way. Edited By Richard Wills 2 on 31/01/2021 20:27:43

Lipos don't explode, they rapidly combust, there is a dfference. There's enough Lipo myth to frighten people without throwing explosions into the equaution: Gunpowder also does not explode it rapidly combusts. The explosion in a firecracker happens when the expanding gases are trapped by a container (cardboard casing) and the build up of pressure causes it to fail. Another reason to vent your box is the gases released by the failed lipo will displace the air in the box rapidly, once thats gone no oxygen remains and combustion cannot continue.

If you ask ten different aeromodellers...
Richard Wills 2 replied to David Davis's topic in IC Engines
Laser or Irvine, OS 61 would be a tad heavy and the exra power is not necessary. Any standard servo will be more than good enough. Mine has an OS 50 SX and Futaba 3001's all round, balanced perfect. You will need a silencer manifold extension block for the exhaust on the 2 stroke
