  1. I get foamboard from Hobbycraft but if there is not one nearby B and Q do a form of depron in 3 thicknesses. What many are using now is foam underlay but I think it only is available in large packs. I have seen foamboard advertised in smaller sizes but it was relatively expensive compared to the Hobbycraft sheets which are about 30" square. Hobbycraft may deliver. Good luck with the project.
  2. Best not mention shaping the nose with a razor plane or 6 policemen will turn up at your door.
  3. He's got the blues waiting for the plane. Looking good Ron
  4. I hope Richard and the boys have sorted the gremlins out
  5. Looks like your cladding is sagging between formers LM I get over this with stringers, either 1/4" sq balsa or 6mm x 12mm foam pieces between the formers. I used both on my Bf 109f
  6. At this rate batch two will be delivered before anyone wants batch one😆
  7. Careful Paul, You will have people thinking your icon character IS you.😆
  8. A chap I once new worked at an electronics firm that had closed. He met an former colleague in a pub and the were discussing work when a young chap butted in and said You old blokes would be lost on modern game players, what did you lot do for fun! The colleague replied. We invented the machines for morons like you to play on!
  9. Managed 4 flights with the Warbirds Replicas FW190 before tain stopped play. I bought 4 4s 3600 batteries from Hobbyking at a good price and after a few cycles I am getting 7 minutes flights with 35% left, they also fit across the cowl moving the c of g slightly forwards. The elevator is less twitchy now .
  10. Thats what I thought, the red is too small. Apart from that looking good for a quick build. The weather at the moment should see a few made for the summer whatever day it comes on.
  11. It depends on the ignition system Martin, RCEXL systems take 6v to 14v. Evolution 6v to 9v. On one of my RCEXEL units for a twin cylinder engine I have a 2c lipo 1000 which lasts for a days flying and more . On my Evolution I use a 6v 2000 rx battery which has been OK. I would not use a 3s lipo on a RCEXEL system as it can exceed 14v after charging.
  12. Many were built after D Day. I'm sure you and I have enough appropriate models to commemorate D Day Brian.😄 If this weather continues we will all be grounded 😶
  13. Could be a chocolate orange they have been scaled down while the price has gone up.
  14. You had your chance on the last one Richard, 🙂
  15. I threw a 4s lipo in a tub of water in the garden after cutting the leads off in February nothing happened, a few weeks later I put it on a stone slab in the garden. After reading this thread I went to check it, 2 cells had 70%left in reading 3.9v. Its been out in all weather's including snow and below 5 degrees. I should rescue the 2 good cells, seems they are indestructible.
  16. Richard took the same electrical course in wiring as me. It was held in a spaghetti factory
  17. I blame their trainer, their spoilt and lack discipline.
  18. Some time back I had a gallon of methanol and some oil given, from a retired modeller. He used to do pylon racing and mixed his own fuel, he didn't have any nitro left, I mixed the fuel and oil as advised and tried it in an old engine it worked fine. I used the rest up mainly in my Acrowot. The point is that if fuel blending companies close down would there still be a source for methanol which could be bought in quantities for modellers to blend there own or maybe the club could buy it in bulk. To end all the doom and gloom I think IC will be with us for many years to come. I have all my options open as I fly electric, petrol and glow, but don't do the free wind power gliders. At 88 years or age I think IC engines will be still going when my spark has gone.
  19. I don't know if you have seen this it may help, I googled BVM super bandit drawings and got this lead. Hope it helps.
  20. Hi Paul, is the plane a model or an actual aeroplane? If it is a scale model then there is always plenty of information on the Internet. If it is a model then plans may be available from outerzone if you have the name of it. Like Graham I have scratch built many models mainly warbirds from 3 view drawings, most having a flat bottom/ Clark y type wing , some have been in depron and foamboard some balsa built . The main thing is only add weight and strength where it is needed and getting the c of g right. There is a great feeling when your scratch built plane flys for the first time.
  21. Struggling to pay my tax online, I phoned them and after 20 minutes,"Can I help you ". me " I would like to pay my tax bill." You can do that on www etc he replied and put the phone down.
