Thanks Danny, you can call me a plonker again, when I ordered the kit last June I did not order the wood pack but made one up from the balsa I had in house so the wood shortfall is my fault not Sarik. The parts which are wrong and the missing parts from the laser cut pack I have had an E.mail from Sarik and they are going to address the problem. I did order another Brian Taylor full kit from them for a Corsair.so I will put the confusion down to my age. Slow progress today only 1 outer wing panel made. Last year I drew up and built a Seafury and used the Tempest wing plan with a reduced centre section span I modified the wing plan for retracts as the original has a fixed undercarriage, Due to lockdown the Seafury has had only two flights but the retracts worked well so I am happy to do the same again. End of day four, still a lot of sanding but I am going to start on the wings today so I can get the wing seating and fairing to the fuselage done when the wings are made. Complained to Sarik about the missing parts but as yet have had no feed back. I think I can finish it with what I have. I did think at one point of using Depron for the elevator but the 3/8" sheet supplied was very light.

David ,you have come up with the answer for me, after my wife passed away I have not used the log burner. I keep my lipos upstairs in the spare room / workshop and no special protection I thought as they come all the way from China in a cardboard box and bubble wrap the only time to take care was charging. After reading of your misfortune I have been wondering what to do with them and you have provided the answer thank you they will literally now go in the fire. I used to work with a David Davis in Telford, he had a vintage MG TA I helped him with, would it be a relation?

A fellow club member has just bought a Nexa Thunderbolt from Motion RC. he said when it went to check out the price was reduced. when it arrived he was hit with a £75 bill for tax and handling . He has bought a lot of models in the past from them but now it seems he would have bought it cheaper in this country. The Motion RC Nexa kits are a rebranded VQ model they include the electric retracts that are a separate item with the VQ brand.

Jon , I glued mine in place on the bottom of the aileron spar prior to sheeting the bottom of the aileron, you will get more strength attaching it to the spar and some packing helps. it needs to be firm as you will be putting pressure on when screwing the horn on. If you place a r piece of balsa about 1/2" wide over the ribs and bring the plate up to it then it will be in line for the bottom sheeting .

I like the cleanliness of electric Ron , but the down side is taking a load of batteries and getting 6 or 7 mins flight. I have a Tucano with a 40 yr old os40 FS in which I flew last year it was electric powered but the flight times were poor so I put the FS in and got 15 min flights and a great sound. It could do with a 52 fs as It was marginal on take off but once flying it was fine.

Not on the plan Phil, but the plan shows the rib positions which are replicated with strips of paper then dope and tissue over. I will use sheet 1/16" core with 1/16" ribs with 3/8" leading edge and cover with solartex for the rudder. The rudder is a frame with ribs and 1/6" sheet so that will be as plan.

Day two of the Tempest build, more parts missing and wood shortage, this was ordered before the balsa shortage. there is no 1/4" sheet included but a lot of parts on the plan require it, I have had to make a ply tank base and wing front mounting which are necessary for the basic construction. The plan calls for the rear end to be built as light as possible but the rudder which was fabric covered is 3/4" thick balsa. I am going to make this with a sheet of 1/16" and ribs which should half the weight. The plan was to use a Laser 100 but it may finish up electric as a 5s and the 50/60 motor weigh the same as the Laser.

Started this evening and already have problems, there are a few pieces which should have been in the kit missing fortunately I have some 1/4" balsa spare. These is for the basic fuselage construction , also the formers 4 and 6 are undersize so I have had to glue some strip to the side to bring them in line with the ply former F2. Had the parts been included I would have had the sides joined .

There comes a time when you must draw the line, and sitting in the snow to get my feet in a picture is the time. Richard managed a green bare foot in one of his so you will have to settle for that.?

Thanks Glynn , I ventured out into the snow to see if I could get a better picture, your cockpit fittings and insignia make it stand out. Due to the fact that Richard is not bringing out a Lancaster or B17 I am going to start on a Brian Taylor Tempest. Although He still has one or two Spitfires and P51's in stock I am tempted to try and shorten the nose and make a Mk1 Spitfire . Great kits that slot together and not difficult to make.

After initial problems logging in I find I don't need to log in now. I click on Model flying on my lap top and as soon as I am on my name comes to the top and I can go straight on to replying to topics.

Thanks Trevor, Just one thing for P51 builders make sure the top sheeting is well glued on at the rear where it buts up against the flaps mine curled up slightly as the covering tightened and I had to put some glue on a knife blade and slide it it to the rear of the wing ribs then clamp the top sheet down. With no spar at this point the ribs are taking all the load.

Hi David, I made cowls like that for IC engines treated with dope and tissue and they were fine. You should have no problems with yours , clean electric no vibrations.

Hi Paul I just go to forum and scroll down to Warbirds, starting to get used to it ,pictures are a doddle to load. Could not get my feet on the table for the last two pics

Thanks Gordon, I was kneeling down to take the picture and realised the foot was missing so I put one leg forward like a Russian dancer (not easy at my age). The picture was taken during the change over and the underside was unfinished , the prop blades are arriving today snow permitting and the underside is now done and the retracts refitted. I will post some more pictures when complete.

At my age I hate change but have managed to log on after being rejected. I have managed to load a picture much easier than before. What I have been unable to do is go back through the previous pages in the thread it will only display the first and last . W

Thanks L.F nice kit to put together, by the time we get out of lockdown it should be well detailed unless the urge to start on my Brian Taylor Tempest becomes uncontrollable.

The green paint arrived this morning, I hand painted it with a soft brush it went on very well Valspar ,Wind in the willows as recommended by Richard. It is darker than it looks on the photo, the cockpit is to do next then weathering and some more decals to apply
