  1. Sorry Mig 17? Edited By Eric Robson on 18/05/2020 18:53:51
  2. Hi Robin, the Robin Fowler Mosquito is 64" span the canopy is 8" long and 4" wide but, it is the bomber version with the pointed screen so you would need the glazed front moulding. The ex Complete A Pack Mossie Is 63" span and they do both versions of canopy but they are not suitable for cutting down as the frames are heavily embossed. I am building the bomber version but it is on hold at the moment . Cheers Eric.
  3. Looks great Danny, I have that to come to, not sure how I will get round it with my thicker oleo's. Beer o'clock sounds like a good time to me. Cheers Eric.
  4. Hi Robin, I don't know how big the Mosquito is but Sarik do a few canopy's for Mosquitos Eric r.
  5. Thanks for the idea Martin, I have a M.E.109E which had metal retracts in and one side failed, they were quite old and had been in a hurricane. They are no longer available so I had a set of plastic retracts these were bigger and needed to cut the bearers away to fit. I replaced the faulty one first and the speed difference was amazing. So now it has odd retracts in but looks great when they operate. Eric r.
  6. Hi Danny, I have just been reading up on reaming and the recommendation for 6-10 mm holes is 0.15mm min to 0.20 max. to ream out. this is general not for any specific material. When cutting ali. I always used paraffin as a lube. many years ago I had to mill a large block of aluminium as there was no paraffin available I used some of the heating oil (red diesel) the manager said you will cause a fire, use thinners instead. I just laughed . Cheers Eric.
  7. Posted by Danny Fenton on 16/05/2020 16:20: Back to the Fury. After a bit of picture referencing I have realised what Martin said, and I missed completely, the central section of the radiator, the bit with rivets and raised bits, is not polished but painted. So I will remove the foil and add the details, before spraying silver. My own fault for not paying attention...... Cheers Danny Pay back time you plonker!. Just one thing on reaming do not make the reamer work too hard, I am not sure now what the hole size is for an 8mm reamer but I once snapped a 1/2" by putting it down a hole that was too small. Having said that it was in a milling machine, but I don't think that you would ream the piece by hand as it has to be accurate. Cheers Rodders
  8. Looks very sleek Danny, great work at the front. How are you going to rivet the centre section? Mine has stalled 2 days flying has put it on hold Cheers Eric .
  9. Hi Ron, if the wires to both connectors are the same three colours and will be not have to be disconnected again you could solder them together. Before doing this I would find out if there is anyone who could look at it and advise you. Not the best time for this advice with the lock down, If you could upload a photo it would help . A.N.Other coffin dodger or so my Grandson says
  10. Posted by Paul Johnson 4 . It's a 73" and has two 13x7 props driven by 600kv motors on 4 cell. one battery, ESC in each nacelle. Thanks Paul, It looks bigger than that, it is a nice size to fit in my car. Cheers Eric.
  11. Hi Danny at that size an 8 mm reamer would probably be a better option. Mine were made from 1/2" tube so I just had to turn the inner parts to fit. Eric.
  12. When I first saw the Myford 7 lathe advertised it was £30 at the time my wage for 44hrs. was £1 -25s as an apprentice motor mechanic. Cheers Eric.
  13. Hi Paul, What a fine set of well made models you have, I have just returned to aircraft modelling and had not heard of the Warbirds kits until joining the forum. I will have to contact Richard to put my name down for a Mustang, and a Spitfire if he still has some left. What size is the 110 and what motors etc. are you using? I had the Brian Taylor one long before electric, it flew well on 2 O.S. 25 FSR engines sadly one failed over a concrete runway not much left of it. I would love another but I see Richards are out of production. Maybe another B.T. if I live long enough. Cheers Eric.
  14. I always wanted a Myford 7 lathe, I n the machine shop of a firm I used to work for I noticed the ML7 standing doing nothing one day I asked about it. the foreman said the clutch needed repair. I then went to the owner and asked if he would sell it. To late he said that morning one of the other managers had asked and he gave it to him for free. That is generally the story of my life. My current lathe and mill are the cheap Chinese variety but they do the little jobs I need . I was lucky with my oleo's I found two springs and they seem just right with the motor in and the battery they are not quite fully compressed.. Keep up the good work Danny. Cheers Eric.
  15. Production on the Fury slowed up due to the flying field now open, subject to now usual restrictions. Top wing finished bar painting, interplane struts covered, motor mounted spinner undersize. Nothing fastened together yet till all parts are painted, still a lot of work before that. Martian two wings!
  16. Posted by Paul Johnson 4 on 14/05/2020 21:41:21: Another good reason to move from foam to balsa is captured in this picture of a foam P51 in flight. Check out the bend in the wings. Yes I am biased but with good cause, I have flown my P51 FMS 1400mm for some time. It flys well on calm days but in anything more than a gentle breeze still flies but it's not pleasant. Often waving to me as it goes past. Then I flew one of Richard's models and what a difference. The foam FMS models are nothing like the foam veneered wings. These are really strong but have their down side I like them because I am not keen on wing building even though I am Building a biplane at the moment ,it's not to bad when the ribs are laser cut but a lot more time consuming compared with foam wings. 17. I made a 32" electric power Gladiator many years ago and used the bottom of beer cans for the home made wheels They were just right. You will be getting the impression I am an alcoholic with my can clad fury and now thisshhhh.
  18. I think he has found them in a skip, he's thought the dot after the O was joined and called it Q.S. engine . Obviously has no idea. Long time since I have seen a linier servo.
  19. Posted by Danny Fenton on 13/05/2020 09:00:57: Unfortunately Eric, that's the same conclusion we came to and hence the easing off the "scale" pedal. They will be lovely models don't get me wrong, and we are the only ones that will know the errors, but this wont be "better" than my current comp model, so it will be for fun. But thanks for the encouragement, keeps the enthusiasm going. Cheers Danny Hi Danny, not only will we know the errors but I bet not many will know what they are. 3 people in my club Identified my Hurricane as a Spitfire and my foamie Typhoon has been a Hurricane and a Tempest. Cheers Eric.
  20. I would be happy if my radiator comes out like that. Looking at the full size the area around the wing front fairing is nothing like the D.B. version. Cheers Eric.
  21. 1949/ A 60" Sea Fury or Firefly would be good . Or a Douglas Invader would make a nice twin project.
